Construction Project Engineer
*Job Summary*
The Construction Project Engineer plays a key role in supporting the successful planning, coordination, execution, and completion of construction projects. This position serves as a technical resource for project teams by reviewing structural designs, coordinating engineering and construction activities, managing project documentation, and helping resolve field and design issues. The Project Engineer works closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, vendors, and clients to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with project specifications.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Structural Engineering and a solid understanding of construction methods, structural systems, and project coordination. Experience in the steel fabrication, steel erection, or construction industry is highly desirable.
*Key Responsibilities*
* Assist Project Managers with the planning, execution, and closeout of construction projects.
* Review structural drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and engineering documents for accuracy and constructability.
* Coordinate project activities between owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
* Track project schedules, budgets, procurement activities, material deliveries, project costs, risks, and opportunities.
* Prepare and maintain accurate RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, project records, reports, and other required documentation.
* Monitor construction progress and support field operations to ensure compliance with project requirements.
* Participate in project meetings and provide technical support to project teams.
* Assist with quality control and quality assurance efforts throughout project execution.
* Identify and resolve engineering, design, and construction issues proactively.
* Ensure compliance with applicable safety standards, building codes, and company policies.
* Perform other related duties as assigned.
*Required Qualifications*
* Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering, Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis, or a related engineering discipline.
* Ability to interpret structural drawings, specifications, and engineering calculations.
* Ability to interpret structural steel layouts, member sizes, and connection details.
* Strong mathematical, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, verbal communication, and written communication skills.
* Strong understanding of structural systems, engineering principles, and construction methods.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
* High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
*Preferred Qualifications*
* 1-5 years of experience in construction project engineering, structural engineering, or project management support.
* Experience in structural steel estimating, steel fabrication, steel detailing, steel erection, or commercial construction.
* Familiarity with AISC standards, structural steel fabrication and erection processes.
* Experience with estimating, takeoff, and PDF markup software.
* Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Tekla, or similar industry software.
* Understanding of public works bidding requirements and contract documents.
* EIT certification or progress toward professional licensure.
* Experience with project management software.
* Knowledge of construction contracts, permitting, and procurement processes.
* Familiarity with applicable building codes and industry standards.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40.0 per week
