Job Title: Substitute Kitchen CookReports to: Food Services Manager / Head Cook ( SFE)Position SummaryThe Substitute Kitchen Cook prepares and serves nutritious meals for students and staff in the absence of regular food service personnel. This role ensures meals meet safety, sanitation, and nutritional standards while maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare and cook food items according to established menus and portion guidelines.Serve meals to students and staff in a friendly and efficient manner.Set up, clean, and sanitize kitchen equipment, serving lines, and work areas.Follow all food safety, health, and sanitation procedures.Assist with inventory control, receiving deliveries, and storing food supplies properly.Monitor portion sizes and minimize food waste.Maintain positive interactions with students, staff, and coworkers.Perform other food service-related duties as assigned by the supervisor. QualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent preferred.Prior food preparation or kitchen experience helpful but not required.Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.Ability to follow recipes, menus, and portion guidelines.Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds and stand for extended periods.Good communication and teamwork skills. Working ConditionsFast-paced school kitchen and cafeteria environment.Exposure to heat, cleaning chemicals, and kitchen equipment.Requires standing, bending, lifting, and repetitive motions during shift.
