About ACBThe Advertising Checking Bureau (ACB) has been a trusted partner in channel marketing for over 100 years, managing reward programs for 200+ leading brands across Co-op Advertising, MDF Programs, Consumer Rebates, and Channel Spiff Programs. Our U.S.-based team combines deep industry expertise with a genuine commitment to getting it right — for our clients, our data, and each other. We're a mid-sized company where your work is visible, your impact is real, and the problems you solve actually matter to the business. The RoleWe're looking for a Senior SQL Developer who is as comfortable digging into a complex data problem as they are thinking about where data infrastructure needs to go next. This is a hands-on role with real influence — you won't just be maintaining what exists, you'll be helping shape what comes next. This role is hybrid, you could be based out of our Tempe, AZ or Memphis, TN office. What You'll Actually Be Doing Day to DayMost of your time will be spent working directly in SQL Server — writing and tuning complex T-SQL, building and maintaining stored procedures, and keeping our data pipelines running cleanly and accurately. You'll work closely with the IT, operations, and data teams to translate business needs into reliable, well-documented SQL solutions.Beyond day-to-day execution, you'll have a meaningful role in helping us modernize. We have a significant amount of legacy infrastructure built up over decades of client-driven development — SSIS packages, manual workflows, and processes that were built for a different era. We're actively working to reduce that technical debt, and we need someone who can help us think through what better looks like, not just maintain what exists.Specifically, you can expect to:Write and optimize complex T-SQL — stored procedures, functions, and queries against large, complex datasetsBuild and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines, including existing SSIS packages and newer approaches as we modernizeDevelop and maintain SSRS reports and support the transition toward modern BI tooling such as Power BIDesign and document database schemas, data models, and ERD diagramsIdentify and resolve data quality issues — accuracy, completeness, consistencyConvert legacy manual processes into automated, auditable SQL solutionsCollaborate across IT, operations, and client teams to understand requirements and deliver solutionsContribute to the creation, review and update of data governance standards and participate in enforcing the sameHelp evaluate and introduce modern SQL Server capabilities that ACB hasn't yet exploredWhat You BringRequired:5+ years of professional SQL development experience in production environmentsDeep T-SQL expertise — complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning, large datasetsThe ability to translate non-technical business needs into technical data solutionsSolid understanding of relational database design, data modeling, and ERDExperience with ETL/ELT operations and data pipeline developmentFamiliarity with SSIS and SSRS — and an opinion about where things are headingStrong communication skills — you can explain data problems to non-technical stakeholders clearlyAttention to detail and a genuine commitment to data accuracyComfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities shift and you manage your own time effectivelyPreferred:Experience with modern BI tools — Power BI, Tableau, or similarAn understanding of CDC and how to best implement itFamiliarity with ELT patterns and cloud data concepts (data lakes, Azure, etc.)Exposure to version control (Git) and agile workflowsMicrosoft SQL Server or Azure certificationsBackground in financial systems, incentive programs, channel marketing, or advertisingAn interest in — or experience with — evaluating newer SQL Server features and guiding teams toward better patternsWhy ACBReal impact. In a team of ~30 IT professionals supporting a $6B+ business, your contributions are visible and valued.Hybrid flexibility. 2-3 days in office per week in Tempe or Memphis. The rest is yours to manage.A company that's investing. We pay competitively for senior talent. We know what good costs, and we're committed to it.Interesting problems. Decades of client-driven development means there is genuinely meaningful modernization work to be done — the kind that requires experience, judgment, and someone who cares about doing it right.Stable foundation. Over 100 years in business, a loyal client base, and a team that tends to stay. If you want a place where you can plant a flag and build something, this is it.A Note on Our StackWe'll be honest: our environment includes some legacy technology — SSIS, SSRS, on-premises SQL Server infrastructure — that has been in place for a long time. We're not asking you to pretend that's cutting-edge. What we are looking for is someone who understands that environment deeply, can keep it running reliably, and has the experience and perspective to help us make smart decisions about modernizing it. If you've seen the full arc — from legacy to modern — and have opinions about how to navigate that transition without breaking things, you'll fit right in here.
