Controller (Property Management)
In the role of Controller, you will function as the day-to-day accounting leader for our multifamily portfolio, owning financial operations, strengthening controls, and driving accuracy across the organization. If you thrive in environments where you can build, lead, and improve, not just maintain, this role was designed for you.What You'll OwnYou will serve as the operational backbone of our accounting function, with responsibility for:Overseeing full-cycle accounting operations for a multifamily property portfolioManaging multiple site/budget month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with accuracy and timelinessReviewing financial statements, general ledger activity, accruals, and reconciliationsEnsuring compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting standardsPartnering with the CFO on financial reporting, analysis, audits, and strategic initiativesSupporting property operations by ensuring clean, reliable financial data for decision-makingStrengthening accounting processes, workflows, and internal controls as the company scalesLeading, mentoring, and reviewing work of accounting team membersSupporting acquisitions, transitions, and system improvements as applicableActing as the primary escalation point for complex accounting questionsWhat Success Looks LikeMonth-end closes are smooth, predictable, and accurateFinancial statements are reliable, well-documented, and audit-readyAccounting processes are clear, consistent, and scalableProperty and operations leaders trust the numbers- and youThe CFO can confidently rely on you as their right hand for accounting execution What We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Accounting or FinanceCPA required6+ years of progressive accounting experience (multifamily or real estate strongly preferred)Proven experience leading month-end close and financial reportingStrong working knowledge of GAAP and internal controlsExperience with property management accounting systems (Yardi preferred)Confident, solutions-oriented communicator who can partner across departmentsHigh attention to detail with the ability to see the big pictureComfortable operating with autonomy, ownership, and accountability
