Application Engineer

As our North American business continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced Application Engineer to join our Technical Solutions team.In this role, you will bridge customers, sales, and engineering by developing technical solutions, supporting proposal activities, and ensuring a smooth transition from pre-sales through Notice to Proceed (NTP).Key ResponsibilitiesLead technical support throughout the pre-sales process, from customer engagement through Notice to Proceed (NTP).Review RFPs, customer specifications, and project requirements to develop optimized technical solutions.Prepare technical proposals, system layouts, single-line diagrams, and supporting documentation.Evaluate compliance with UL, IEEE, IEC, NEC, NFPA, and applicable local codes and standards.Conduct technical feasibility studies, gap analyses, and solution reviews during project development.Collaborate closely with Product Management and R&D teams to improve products, support certifications, and optimize system performance.Provide technical guidance on:Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)PCS (Power Conversion Systems)Controls & CommunicationsThermal ManagementFire ProtectionSystem IntegrationGather customer and EPC feedback to support continuous product improvement.Deliver technical presentations to customers and support industry conferences and trade shows.Minimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.3+ years of experience in Renewable Energy, Energy Storage, or EPC industries.3+ years of experience in an Application Engineering, Systems Engineering, Project Engineering, or similar technical role.Strong understanding of:Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)PCS / InvertersSystem IntegrationThermal ManagementFire Protection SystemsElectrical System LayoutsWorking knowledge of applicable industry standards including:ULNECIEEEIECNFPAExperience with AutoCAD or equivalent engineering design software.Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.Ability to communicate effectively with customers, EPCs, and cross-functional engineering teams.English fluency required.Mandarin Chinese and/or Spanish is a strong plus.Preferred QualificationsUtility-scale BESS project experience.Experience supporting customer proposals and technical bid responses.Familiarity with grid-connected energy storage applications.Experience working with cross-functional global engineering teams.Customer-facing technical support experience.Travel RequirementsAbility to travel approximately 25–50% for customer meetings, project support, factory visits, and industry events.
