Job Description Position: CRNA Instructor / Faculty Personnel Clearance Requirement: NACI / Background Check (CAC Eligible) Department: Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE) Department of Graduate Education (DGE) Hours of Operation: 0730–1630 (Monday–Friday) Place of Performance: Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA), Fort Sam Houston, Texas Industry: Healthcare / Medical Education / Defense Employment Type: Full-time (Contract) This is a current opening requiring immediate placement.ResponsibilitiesPlan, develop, refine, and deliver approximately 112 credit hours of doctoral-level nurse anesthesia instruction within the U.S. Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing (USAGPAN).Conduct and supervise up to 675 hours of high-fidelity simulation training, utilizing advanced equipment such as human patient simulators, pediatric simulators, and regional anesthesia mannequins.Provide instruction on:Anesthesia delivery systemsIntraoperative patient managementUltrasound-guided regional anesthesiaBiomedical monitoringTrauma and austere environment anesthesiaDevelop, review, and update all instructional materials including:Lesson plansStudent and facilitator guidesExaminations and assessmentsMultimedia and presentation materialsMaintain and update test item banks and ensure all assessments align with program standards and Testing Committee policies.Deliver classroom, laboratory, simulation, and virtual instruction using approved methodologies and technologies.Conduct practical exercises in:Airway managementAnesthesia delivery systemsTrauma and combat casualty care scenariosServe as a clinical subject matter expert, mentoring students and providing academic counseling for 8–12 graduate students.Identify and supervise capstone and research projects, including protocol development, data collection, and dissemination of findings.Integrate evidence-based practice, emerging technologies, and current clinical guidelines into all instructional content.Collaborate with faculty and leadership to ensure compliance with accreditation standards (COA) and affiliated university requirements.Maintain professional competence through participation in:Scientific conferencesSymposiaContinuing education and self-studyProvide SME support for development of Computer-Based Training (CBT) / Web-Based Training (WBT) and multimedia learning tools.Perform course administrative functions including:Maintaining student recordsTracking academic progressSupporting program documentation and reportingPrepare and submit monthly status reports detailing activities, progress, and recommendations.QualificationsDoctoral Degree (DNP, DNAP, PhD, or equivalent) from an accredited institution.Active Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) certification (NBCRNA) required.Minimum 8 years of clinical experience as a CRNA.Minimum 3 years of teaching, mentoring, or precepting experience in an academic or clinical setting.Demonstrated expertise in:Anesthetic agents and delivery techniquesRegional anesthesia (neuraxial and peripheral nerve blocks)Ultrasound-guided proceduresAnesthesia care for diverse patient populations (pediatrics, OB, complex comorbidities)Extensive knowledge of:Anesthesia machine systems and architectureBiomedical monitoring and patient safety protocolsTrauma and austere environment anesthesia careExperience with high-fidelity simulation training environments strongly preferred.Ability to develop curriculum and apply innovative teaching strategies and learning technologies.Demonstrated ability to:Work collaboratively with faculty and leadershipMentor graduate-level studentsParticipate in academic governance and program developmentStrong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex medical concepts to diverse audiences.Commitment to scholarly activity, including research, presentations, or publications.Ability to meet all MEDCoE credentialing, immunization, and security requirements.Benefits: 401k + 4% employer matchMedical/Dental/Vision/Life Insurance80 Hours PTOPaid Federal HolidaysPOC: Jonathan Loop, CEO, Harpe Engineering Solutions, Inc. 706-832-0180, jonathan.loop@harpeengineering.com
