This position is responsible for the day-to-day administration, team leadership, and operational execution of all benefits programs while helping rebuild processes, improve accuracy, and ensure compliance.This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, can step into ambiguity, and is comfortable acting as a player-coach and problem solver to address immediate operational gaps.Key ResponsibilitiesBenefits Operations & AdministrationOversee daily administration of all employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, 401(k), and voluntary benefitsEnsure accurate benefits billing, reconciliation, and payroll deductions, resolving discrepancies and preventing future errorsManage and support open enrollment processes, including system readiness and employee communicationsOversee case management and employee inquiries, ensuring timely resolution and adherence to SLAsTeam Leadership & DevelopmentDirectly manage and develop a team of benefits professionals (including U.S.-based staff and offshore support)Provide guidance, training, and decision-making support to a team that currently requires stronger leadership and structureEstablish clear roles, accountability, and performance expectationsAct as an escalation point for complex benefits issuesProcess Improvement & ExecutionIdentify gaps in current workflows and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs)Redesign and improve processes related to benefits administration, case management, and communicationsDrive operational efficiency and accuracy through better systems usage and documentationPartner with leadership to support broader process reengineering efforts within the benefits functionCompliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with all applicable regulations, including ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and 1095-C reportingSupport audits, filings (including 5500), and internal compliance reviewsMaintain accurate documentation and controls to minimize organizational riskVendor & Stakeholder ManagementPartner with brokers, carriers, and third-party administrators to resolve issues and improve service deliveryCollaborate cross-functionally with HR, Payroll, and Finance to ensure alignment on benefits processes and dataSupport union-related benefits administration and Health & Welfare plans as applicableQualificationsRequired7+ years of progressive experience in benefits administration3+ years of experience leading or mentoring a teamStrong knowledge of ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and benefits compliance requirementsHands-on experience with benefits billing, reconciliation, and deductionsExperience supporting large employee populations (2,000+ on medical plans preferred)Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound, practical decisionsAdvanced Excel skills and experience working with HRIS systemsPreferredExperience in union environments or Health & Welfare plansExperience in high-volume industries such as staffing, security, or labor-intensive workforcesExposure to benefits process improvement or system implementationsRelevant certifications (CEBS, CBP, SHRM, or similar)Why Join Inter-ConThis is an opportunity to step into a highly visible role where you can make an immediate impact by stabilizing and improving a critical function.
