Job Title: Director of EngineeringDepartment: EngineeringWork Location: Pine Bluff, AR - USFLSA Status: ExemptPosition Description:The Director of Engineering will lead the engineering design and development team, for the assigned region, for single phase and three phase distribution transformers. This role combines strategic leadership with engineering management, focusing on achieving business objectives and targets while overseeing daily engineering operations ensuring the successful design, development, and production of high-quality distribution transformers.Key Responsibilities:Strategic Leadership: Assist in the development and execution of the engineering department's strategic goals aligned with organizational objectives Collaborate with other department leaders to align engineering initiatives with business priorities, budgets, and timelines Help drive innovation by identifying and sharing opportunities for new technologies, materials, and processes to enhance product performance and reduce costsRepresent the engineering function in cross-functional leadership meetings, contributing to company-wide decision-makingDevelop and manage engineering budgets, ensuring optimal allocation of resourcesEngineering Management:Manage day-to-day engineering functions including sales, production and quality support Maintain design compliance with applicable industry standards, government regulations, and certifications such as ANSI, ASTM, IEEE, CSA and DOEManage departmental capability and capacity through skill assessment, employee training and strategic hiring to meet customer demand and sales forecast Periodically review and evaluate engineering practices and procedures to ensure effectiveness and implementing best practices Manage and scale department productivity through tracking and establishment, as necessary, of departmental OKRs and KPIsTeam Leadership:Manage, build and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvementConduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and identify development opportunities for team members through effective coaching and goal settingHelp drive collaboration between engineering, production, quality, and other departments to optimize workflows and resolve technical challengesRequirementsEducation & Experience:Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field10+ years of experience in engineering, including 5+ years in a leadership role within a manufacturing environment, in transformer or electrical equipment manufacturingTechnical Skills:Proficiency in electrical distribution equipment design and application of associated industrial standards such as ANSI, ASTM, IEEE, and CSA.
