.NET Core / Java Developer – Remote EULocation: Remote EUContract: Freelance, 6-month contract + extensionsAbout the RoleWe are looking for an experienced .NET Core Developer to join a large-scale application modernisation project within the insurance sector.The role is fully remote, although the successful candidate will be required to collect their work laptop from Zurich.The initial focus will be on clearing a backlog of feature enhancements within an existing .NET Core application. Following this phase, the project is expected to move towards the migration of the application from .NET Core to Java, with Spring Boot and Azure Cloud forming key parts of the future technology landscape.Further details regarding the project, technical environment and migration strategy will be discussed during the first-stage interview.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and deliver feature enhancements using .NET Core.Work through and clear an existing backlog of development tasks.Maintain and enhance existing applications.Collaborate with technical and project teams to understand requirements and deliver high-quality solutions.Contribute to the planned migration from .NET Core to Java.Develop and support applications using Java and Spring Boot as the project progresses.Work with Microsoft Azure Cloud technologies.Contribute to application modernisation and migration activities.Troubleshoot issues and provide effective technical solutions.Work independently within a remote development environment.Key Skills & ExperienceStrong commercial experience with .NET Core / C#.Strong software development experience within enterprise environments.Experience with Java and Spring Boot.Experience working with Microsoft Azure.Experience developing and enhancing existing applications.Experience working on application migration or modernisation projects is highly desirable.Ability to work across different technology stacks.Strong problem-solving and communication skills.Desirable ExperienceExperience migrating applications from .NET to Java.Previous experience within the insurance or financial services sector.Experience with large-scale enterprise applications.Experience working within Agile development environments.This opportunity is with a leading organisation offering a collaborative and delivery-focused environment, providing the opportunity to work across multiple projects and contribute to successful technology initiatives.kai.withers@empiric.comMOBI: +44 7585275914T: +44 203 6757777W: www.empiric.comEmpiric is one of the fastest-growing technology and transformation recruitment agency's specialising in data, digital, cloud and security.
