Staff Engineer

You'll serve as a technical leader and force multiplier for one of our engineering squads at Jove. As a Staff Engineer, you'll guide and unblock senior engineers while shaping technical direction for our case management platform used by personal injury law firms. What You'll Do Guide and unblock Senior Engineers on complex technical challengesLead technical design and architecture decisions for major featuresCollaborate with the Director of Engineering and Product team on long-term technical strategyReview code and provide technical mentorship across your squadDrive engineering best practices around testing, observability, and code qualityParticipate in daily standups and bi-weekly sprint planning sessionsShip code alongside your team while maintaining technical leadership responsibilitiesIdentify and resolve technical debt and performance bottlenecksContribute to infrastructure decisions and GitOps workflowsEnsure features are properly instrumented for monitoring and debugging Who You'll Work With Report directly to the Director of EngineeringLead and mentor a squad of 5-6 Senior and Associate EngineersPartner with the other Staff Engineers and Project Manager on cross-squad initiativesMeet regularly with Product Managers and Designers on long-term roadmap planningCollaborate with the QA Engineer on your squad to ensure quality standardsEngage with the Director of Engineering and Project Manager on technical strategy What We're Looking For Extensive experience building and scaling production web applicationsDeep expertise in Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, and full-stack developmentProven track record of technical leadership and mentoring engineersStrong architectural and system design skills
