Food Service Utility Associate

Job DescriptionThe Food Service Utility position works under the supervision of leadership to complete cleaning and sanitation duties for all areas of the Nutrition and Dining Services department. They will perform a variety of miscellaneous responsibilities necessary to maintain a sanitary, safe, orderly and attractive environment. ResponsibilitiesCommunicates appropriately, speaks respectfully at all times with patients, families, visitors, and all other caregivers, addressing them by name and responding to needs or requests for assistance promptly and courteously. Retrieves dirty trays, dishes and silverware from patient floors in a quiet and respectful manner. Cleans all soiled trays, dishes, pots, pans, silverware and other miscellaneous items using the appropriate machinery or manually if required. Sweeps and cleans department floors and carpets using brooms, vacuum cleaners, mops, floor cleaners and other department equipment to always maintain a clean and sanitary environment. Understands how to operate and maintain appropriate department equipment such as dish machine, pot & pan machine, garbage disposal, and others according to sanitation and safety regulation. Empties waste receptacles and transports waste to appropriate destination. Other duties as assigned EducationH.S. Moderate written skills. Presents well to patients, visitors, and is well groomed. Essential Physical Requirements Complies with standards for personal hygiene and dress code, and exemplifies an attitude of personal pride about Mosaic Life Care Ability to lift heavy objects up to 50 lbs; twisting side to side; move from kitchen to patient floors and around department; Ability to lift mops, pails, trash bags, soiled linen, etc. Ability to bend or stoop repetitively for various cleaning. Ability to reach with arms fully extended to clean high areas. Transport supplies to work areas. Mixes small quantities of disinfectant for use in area. Ability to work and move quickly. Requires long periods of repetitive arm movement. Essential Mental Abilities Must be organized to finish required work; i.e., fast pace, remember all duties and when they need to be completed, etc. Must follow department policies which pertain to safety; i.e., putting up wet floor signs, using proper lifting procedures, etc. Must demonstrate appropriate behaviors and speech at all times, observing rules of patient confidentiality. Essential Sensory Requirements Ability to use fine motor skills and good hand/eye coordination.
