Job Description Type:3 months to 1 year contract with additional option years.Full Time or Part Time:Full-TimePay Rate:$40.00 – $58.00 per hour (negotiable)Location:TBD – OnsiteMust be willing to relocate anywhere in the US.Language Requirements:Write, read, and speak EnglishLanguage Preferences:Bilingual (English/Spanish)Job OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Assistant Chief of Operations and Training to oversee fire rescue operations, training programs, and departmental readiness initiatives. This leadership role is responsible for managing daily operational preparedness, coordinating training schedules, ensuring compliance with fire service standards, and supporting incident command operations. The position oversees personnel development, performance management, and training program implementation. The Assistant Chief will also develop, enforce, and evaluate policies and procedures related to firefighter competency, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance. Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain a security clearance and maintain it as required. Clearance level is to be determined. Performs other duties as assigned.Experience RequirementsMinimum of eight (8) years of progressive experience in fire service, including supervisory or command-level experienceExperience managing fire suppression, emergency medical services (EMS), and operational readiness programsExperience developing and implementing training programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs)Experience supervising personnel, including training, scheduling, and performance managementStrong knowledge of OSHA standards, fire codes, NFPA standards, and life safety regulationsExperience evaluating training effectiveness, operational drills, and emergency response performanceStrong leadership, communication, and decision-making skillsExperience PreferencesExperience in a municipal or county fire department leadership roleExperience overseeing operational divisions, training programs, or firefighter development initiativesFamiliarity with accreditation processes, ISO ratings, and certification requirementsExperience coordinating with emergency management agencies and regulatory bodiesPhysical RequirementsAbility to respond to emergency incidents and perform command-level duties in the fieldAbility to work in high-stress and emergency situationsAbility to conduct field inspections, training drills, and operational evaluationsEducation RequirementsBachelor's degree in Fire Science, Emergency Management, Occupational Safety, or a related fieldEducation PreferencesMaster's degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, Occupational Safety, or a related fieldTraining Schedule:TBDSchedule:Varies based on operational needs; includes availability for emergency response, nights, weekends, and holidaysDress Code:TBDBenefits:TBDAdditional Information:Drug screening, background, and reference checks are performed if required.
