Role: Head of EngineeringJob Type: Contractor with USD payment - Full-time - RemoteThe RoleOur client is seeking for a Head of Engineering to lead the next phase of the company’s technical growth. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for owning the full engineering function, setting technical direction, and building a small, highly talented technical team capable of scaling the business and platform over time.This leader will play a critical role in strengthening internal technical capabilities, reducing relianceon third-party development partners, and ensuring the company’s technology foundation supports a modern, reliable, and scalable customer experience. Our client operates in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment and is seeking a leader who is hands-on, detail-oriented, moves quickly, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to drive execution alongside the team.Responsibilities• Own the engineering function end-to-end, including strategy, execution, team, and long-term platform scalability.• Design, architect, code, and oversee the continued evolution of FlyBox’s enterprise platform, ensuring security, reliability, scalability, and overall system health.• Partner closely with company leadership to translate business priorities into scalable technical solutions and provide insights that support strategic decision-making.• Lead and grow a small, highly talented engineering team supporting FlyBox’s apps, integrations, logistics operations, and enterprise backend.• Build and maintain a high-performing engineering culture grounded in speed, accountability, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.• Streamline technical roadmaps, requirements, and development processes to reduce complexity and accelerate execution while maintaining high standards of quality.• Establish engineering standards, documentation practices, release processes, and technical frameworks.• Oversee DevOps and infrastructure responsibilities, including deployment pipelines, integrations, hosting, environment management, observability, monitoring, and reporting.• Manage internal/external engineering resources to ensure high-quality and timely execution.• Support data engineering initiatives spanning CRM, billing, warehouse management, logistics, customer support, and shipping systems, while overseeing quality assurance and system testing across the platform.Qualifications• Strong backend engineering experience designing, building, and maintaining complex APIs, integrations, and backendservices.• Experience managing API-driven frontend applications, including mobile applications that rely heavily on backend infrastructure and services.• Proven ability to design scalable system architecture that supports growth, performance, reliability, and future product expansion.• Experience implementing and managing platform monitoring, alerting, logging, observability, issue detection, and system risk management practices.• Strong understanding of modern authentication and authorization frameworks, including secure login, user identity, permissions, token-based access, and access control best practices.• Deep familiarity with modern AI-augmented development workflows, including LLM-backed CLIs, code-generation tooling, and AI-assisted engineering practices.• Excitement for and experience building applied AI and machine learning features, workflows, or services into customer-facing products and internal systems. • Strong english communication skills (Both verbal and written)
