A premier independent school in the New Orleans area is seeking an experienced and enthusiasticUpper School History Teacherfor the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. We are looking for a dedicated educator who enjoys working with young people and is committed to fostering a classroom environment rooted in academic excellence and critical thinking.Core Responsibilities
Instruction:Lead Civics courses for grades 9-12; ability to teach additional history or social science electives is highly preferred.
Curriculum Excellence:Implement rigorous, student-centered instruction and maintain a commitment to effective preparation and assessment.
Community Engagement:Actively participate in faculty, grade-level, and departmental meetings to support the school’s mission.
Inclusion & Belonging:Guide students toward upholding the value in diversity of cultures, beliefs, and perspectives, and support them in navigating issues inherent in equity and justice.
Professional Growth:Engage in ongoing professional development and perform other duties as assigned by school leadership.Qualifications
Education:Bachelor’s degree in History or a Social Science (Required).
Experience:Prior teaching experience at the secondary level (Preferred).
Advanced Standing:An advanced degree (MA, MS, or PhD) is preferred.Eligibility & Work Authorization
