Electro-optics EngineerLocation: Annapolis Junction, MarylandType: ContractJob #87611Our DoD/Aerospace client is looking to fill an Electro Optics Engineer position that just opened in Annapolis Junction, MD. In this role, you will support the design, development, integration, and testing of advanced electro optical and photonic systems used in mission critical defense and national security applications. To be considered, you must have a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related STEM discipline plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with at least 6 months of related experience.Location: Annapolis Junction, MD (Onsite)Position: Electro Optics EngineerContract: 12 - 24 months with possibility of going directPay: $51.14/ hour.Schedule: First / Second ShiftCLEARANCE: U.S. Citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within secure facilities.In this role you will use your technical and interpersonal skills to:Design, develop, build, and test electro optical, photonic, and laser-based systemsSupport development of technologies including free space optical (FSO) and fiber optic communications, photonic integrated circuits, and active and passive optical remote sensing and imaging systemsCollaborate with hardware, device, and software engineering teams throughout the system development lifecycleSpecify, select, and qualify active and passive optical and electrical componentsDevelop system level performance models and conduct benchmarking analysesDevelop and execute laboratory and system level test proceduresEvaluate, select, and utilize appropriate optical and communications test instrumentationDocument results, communicate technical issues, and recommend corrective actionsQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related Science, Engineering, Technology, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline is required plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience ORMaster's degree with a minimum of 6 months of job-related experienceSolid foundation in electrical and optical engineering concepts, principles, and processesStrong written and verbal communication skillsAgile development experience preferredClearance Requirements:Due to the nature of work performed within secure facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.Knowledge Skills And Abilities:Experience conducting laboratory measurements and hardware integration or testingHands-on experience with optical and communications test and measurement equipmentExperience with or strong interest in hardware prototyping and field testingFamiliarity with one or more of the following tools or environments:MATLABLumericalZemaxVPIPythonC / C++LabVIEWAbout our client:Our client is a mission critical DOD - Aerospace defense contractor developing solutions that will lead, serve, and protect our country.
