About the RoleThis is not a traditional curriculum support role.We are seeking an experienced Math Consultant who can step into schools and districts as a trusted instructional leader—someone who can facilitate professional learning, coach teachers in real classrooms, and help drive meaningful change in math instruction.This role is designed for educators who are ready to expand their impact beyond a single classroom and thrive in a fast-paced, high-accountability consulting environment. The ideal candidate is confident presenting to adult learners, skilled in instructional coaching, and deeply knowledgeable about K–8 mathematics teaching and learning. What You’ll DoAs a Math Consultant, you will:Lead engaging, high-quality professional development for K–8 educatorsFacilitate workshops and presentations with clarity, energy, and adaptabilityCoach teachers through modeling, co-teaching, reflection, planning, and feedbackSupport school and district partners in implementing strong math instructional practicesBuild strong relationships with teachers, instructional leaders, and administratorsPrepare agendas, materials, and resources for school-based engagementsMaintain clear, proactive communication before, during, and after support visitsDocument coaching outcomes, next steps, and recommendationsContribute to the development of SIS instructional tools, resources, and content Who We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for educators who can operate as instructional leaders, not just classroom teachers.Strong candidates will bring:Deep understanding of K–8 mathematics content and pedagogyStrong presentation and facilitation skills with adult learnersExperience coaching teachers in real instructional settingsConfidence leading groups and adjusting in the momentThe ability to move fluidly across grade levels, schools, and instructional contextsExcellent organization, communication, and self-managementHigh professionalism, adaptability, and follow-through Required QualificationsMaster’s Degree in Education8–10 years of teaching experience (K–8 preferred)Minimum 3 years of instructional coaching experienceDemonstrated experience presenting to adult learnersStrong understanding of:Conceptual math instructionNumeracy developmentDifferentiationMath workshop design Location & TravelCandidates must be based in the Metro Detroit area or willing to relocate before the start dateThis role requires regular travel to school districts throughout Southeast and Mid-MichiganSome engagements may require extended travel time and overnight staysMileage reimbursement is provided according to SIS policyHotel accommodations are arranged and covered by SIS when needed Work StructureConsultants typically work in schools 3–4 days per week during peak seasonsSIS provides at least one dedicated office day per week for planning, communication, and internal workThis is an 11-month role aligned to the school yearConsultants work through June, with a structured company shutdown from July 1–July 31Occasional evening or extended hours may be required during peak seasons or special events Time Off & ScheduleThis role follows a school-year-aligned schedule, including:July 1 – July 31 company shutdown2 weeks off at Christmas1 week off for Spring Break3 days for Thanksgiving10 PTO days (full-time employees)Major holidays including Memorial Day and Labor Day Why SISAt SIS, we are committed to excellence, growth, and meaningful impact in education.
