Associate Contracts Manager - Outgoing MTA Program
Associate Contracts Manager San Francisco, CA 94080 $36.23–$44.20/hr Monday–Friday | 8-hour shifts | Hybrid Schedule (3 days onsite / 2 remote) Overview We are seeking an Associate Contracts Manager to support the Research Contracts Group by managing the full lifecycle of outgoing Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs). This position handles a high-volume workload of up to 400 MTAs annually and partners closely with scientists, legal teams, and external technology transfer offices to ensure accurate and compliant transfer of research materials. This role is ideal for candidates with a scientific background who also possess strong contract administration, organizational, and communication skills. ResponsibilitiesManage a queue of 70–110 active MTAs from initiation through execution and post-execution activitiesCoordinate with internal stakeholders, legal counsel, and external scientific partners regarding agreement processingOrganize and process signatures in accordance with established proceduresMaintain accurate agreement records and update the MTA database in real timeFile executed agreements with Legal RecordsCoordinate shipment of research materials and manage import/export documentationTroubleshoot shipping or customs-related issues as neededTrack agreement effective dates, expirations, and renewalsProvide administrative support including meeting coordination and data entryMaintain timely and professional communication in a fast-paced environment Required Qualifications EducationBachelor's degree in a scientific discipline requiredLegal coursework or contract-related experience is a plus Experience2–4 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, university technology transfer, or research contract administration environments Required SkillsUnderstanding of scientific terminology including antibodies, plasmids, DNA, and genetically modified animal modelsBasic knowledge of legal agreement structures, amendments, obligations, and contract terminologyExperience drafting, reviewing, or managing agreements preferredStrong written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational and time management abilitiesAbility to think critically and resolve issues independentlyDetail-oriented with the ability to manage high-volume workloads efficiently Technical SkillsMicrosoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)Google Workspace (Gmail, Calendar, Docs)Experience working with enterprise systems and databasesBenefits: Health insurance Health savings account Dental insurance Vision insurance Flexible spending accounts Life insurance Retirement plan All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran.
