Assistant Professor, DNP - FNP Program
As a part of a diverse community of faculty and staff who represent many faith systems and worldviews, Marian University seeks a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) Faculty member for the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program to promote our Catholic Franciscan mission and identity by developing and teaching graduate-level nursing courses, mentoring students, and supporting scholarly and collaborative academic initiatives. This position is responsible for assisting in the development and delivery of assigned coursework within the DNP program while advising and mentoring students, serving as a primary advisor for DNP scholarly projects, and collaborating with graduate nursing faculty and Marian University faculty and staff to support student success and program excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Actively engage the Catholic Franciscan mission and identity of Marian University by modeling the Franciscan Sponsorship Values, honoring the legacy of the founding congregation, promoting unity in diversity, and integrating the Catholic Franciscan intellectual traditions in courses, programs, and services
Designs and delivers course material based on the graduate philosophy, course description, course outcomes, and program outcomes
Translates learning material to online, hybrid, and synchronized classes
Utilizes a variety of teaching strategies and learning activities to enhance classroom and clinical learning and promote student achievement of program outcomes
Accurately document student progress and achievement within specific courses and/or clinical assignments
Evaluates student work and clinical performance based on outcome rubrics/clinical evaluations.
Monitors and evaluates student e-portfolios
Serve as a model/resource for faculty and students
Advises/Mentors assigned program students
Serves as a DNP project team lead/member in accordance with the DNP project guidelines
Serves on the following LSON and MU-related committees: LSON Faculty Council, Graduate Nursing Faculty Council, University-related meeting(s); other job-related committees
Encouraged to maintain clinical status and/or maintain professional skills
Fulfills all other duties and responsibilities of the faculty position as designated in the LSON Faculty Handbook
Participates in student recruitment, student selection, and public relations
Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications
Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of Marian University.
Doctoral degree in nursing or related field from an accredited institution strongly preferred (PhD, DNP)
Current Nurse Practitioner certification
Current RN/APRN licensure in state of residence
Eligibility for IN RN license
Previous experience in higher learning education preferred
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Competency in MS Office products

Essential Functions

Demonstrated ability to write professional correspondence and effectively present information, responding to questions with clarity and professionalism.
Proven track record of meeting deadlines for meetings, projects, reports, and assignments.
Proficient computer skills, including a strong command of relevant software applications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
