This role provides hands‐on project and construction management expertise while integrating directly with the client's internal team to deliver complex capital, infrastructure, or vertical construction projects.The ideal candidate brings strong technical leadership, stakeholder coordination, and execution experience across the full project lifecycle-from planning and design through construction close‐out-while operating in a fast‐paced, client‐embedded environment.If this sounds like an opportunity you'd like to explore, Apply today Careers - NV5ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:Staff Augmentation/Project Management/Construction ManagementAct as an extension to City staff. Prepare staff reports and RFPs for engineering and construction work. Manage City funding & assist with specialty-funded projects, such as SRF, CDGB, and other State- and Federally funded projects.Act as the client's representative, managing scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk for multiple assigned projects.Oversee construction activities and the City's Construction Manager to ensure compliance with contract documents, codes, safety requirements, and regulatory standards. Approve payment requests from various consultants and contractors.Coordinate with designers, contractors, inspectors, and internal stakeholders to resolve technical and field issues.Technical & Engineering OversightProvide PE‐level technical review of plans, specifications, submittals, RFIs, and change ordersEnsure engineering decisions align with design intent, constructability, and project constraintsSupport value engineering and cost‐saving initiatives without compromising quality or safetySchedule & Cost ControlDevelop, review, and manage project schedules and cost forecasts within the City's format.Track progress, monitor performance metrics, and proactively identify risks and mitigation strategies for City projects.Review contractor pay applications, cost proposals, and claims.Stakeholder & Client SupportServe as a trusted extension of the City's staff, adapting to existing processes and reporting structuresFacilitate project meetings, provide executive‐level status reports, and communicate key risks/issues clearlySupport audits, public meetings, and regulatory coordination as requiredDocumentation & ComplianceEnsure adherence to contract terms, agency standards, and permitting requirementsMaintain comprehensive project records, logs, and documentation for close‐outSupport project commissioning, punch lists, and final acceptanceQualificationsRequired QualificationsActive Professional Engineer (PE) license (California Professional Engineer or Structural Engineer)Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field5-10+ years of project and/or construction management experienceProven experience managing capital or construction projects (infrastructure, utilities, facilities, transportation, or vertical construction)Strong working knowledge of construction contracts, drawings, specifications, and industry standardsExperience working in staff augmentation or client‐embedded roles highly preferredPreferred QualificationsExperience supporting public agencies, utilities, or large institutional clientsFamiliarity with CPM scheduling, cost control tools, and project management softwareAbility to manage multiple stakeholders in regulated or high‐visibility environmentsThe base pay range for this California position is $55.00- $85.00 per hour; Base pay offered may be higher or lower depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location of the candidate. Restricted stock units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the position offered.
