Job Title: Lead AccountantLocation : Waunakee, WI, United StatesFull TimeDirect HireRole Description:The Lead Accountant is a full-time, on-site role based in Waunakee, WI, responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting. This position manages general ledger activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, month-end and year-end closes, and preparation of financial statements. The Lead Accountant monitors accounts payable and accounts receivable, supports payroll processing, and assists with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. The role includes maintaining internal controls, supporting audits, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations, and preparing ad hoc financial analyses for leadership. The Lead Accountant will collaborate closely with operations, sales, and leadership teams to provide clear financial insights and drive process improvements in the accounting function.QualificationsStrong knowledge of general accounting principles, including general ledger management, account reconciliation, and month-end/year-end close processes.Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses for leadership review.Proficiency with accounting software and ERP systems, as well as intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel (e.g., pivot tables, lookups, basic financial modeling).Ability to design, maintain, and improve internal controls and accounting procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance.Experience managing or overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash flow monitoring in a small to mid-sized organization.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders.Ability to work on-site full-time, prioritize multiple deadlines, and operate both independently and collaboratively within a small team.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred but not required.Prior experience in a lead, senior, or supervisory accounting position is a plus.
