Job SummaryThe CNC Programmer is responsible for the management and execution of customer quotations, including the selection of tooling, and determination of programming component geometry of parts. Is also responsible for the setup, operation, and making of complex cuts on the CNC Machine Tool Wood Router maximizing cuts and yields.It relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; some creativity and latitude are expected.Principle Duties and ResponsibilitiesReads and analyzes job orders, prints, drawings, and customer specificationsWorks with sales and industry specialists to ensure that customer requirements are metPrograms the CNC Machine RouterWorks with plant and operations employees on storage methods of raw materialsPrepares spoil boards for use and manages operations when they are to be changed and replacedDetermines how workpieces are to be clamped or help during machine processing cycles such as:Spoil board and flow through vacuum hold-down methodsDedicated fixturesRisers and or podsDetermines the proper type of tool cutting bit to be used in the routing/boring/pocketing cyclesUtilizes tools such as touch probes, calibration programs, and height gages to set machine tools for tool changes and cutting processesOrders toolingStores programming files and are responsible for file managementChecks processed lumber to ensure the operation is producing to required job specificationsDirects and trains other employees working on the machine, as neededPerforms minor preventive maintenance and repairs as specifiedManages the productivity of the machining centerIdentifies, researches, and resolves various problems and opportunitiesEvaluates the performance of individuals operating the equipmentManages activities and performs duties consistent with all UFP policies, procedures, and applicable lawsCommunicates to employees and other management members as requiredManages cost and profitability of the machining centerLeads employees in continuous improvement and safety initiativesPrepares reports and maintains records as requiredPerforms other duties as requiredQualificationsMinimum high school education.Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience working with a CNC machine tool with a focus on FANUC-controlled driven CNC MachineWorking knowledge of CAD/CAM engineering softwareBasic knowledge of Cartesian coordinate graphic systems is requiredUnderstanding and interpretation of the various Machine Codes for FANUC controlled based CNC MachinesFundamental working knowledge of AutoCAD software is requiredWorking knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, and other business softwareBasic knowledge of lumber math, lumber grades and materials, and speciesCompensation & Benefit Information:Hourly/Salary Pay Range: $30.00 - $32.50 an hour dependent on experience** pay range may be adjusted depending on cost of livingBonus/Incentive Pay:For hourly positions with incentive pay: Incentive pay may be available for certain job roles and may include piece rate incentives, weekly production bonuses, trip rates, and employee referral bonuses.
