What is JetZero?Today's aircraft contribute around 4% of global CO2 emissions, equivalent to the emissions of 200 million cars. This is only going to increase: Air travel is forecasted to double by 2050, while meaningful efficiency gains using current airplanes have hit a wall.JetZero is developing a blended-wing body (BWB) aircraft. It uses up to 50% less fuel and will be built to accommodate zero-emission hydrogen propulsion. That future will only be possible if we share our vision and what it means to people's lives: carbon-free flight that' is better for both passengers and airlines around the world.As an Avionics Architecture Engineer, you will be responsible for helping create and integrate the full avionics suite for JetZero's aircraft by translating operator and airworthiness requirements, working with the avionics suppliers to implement those requirements, and going through the testing and integration process. You will collaborate closely with other system engineering teams, labs, and technicians to shape the avionics system.JetZero is a place for people who are ambitious, talented, and humble. This role is based in Long Beach, CA reporting to the Demonstrator systems team.What You'll Do:System design and development: system requirement and architecture updates including bus signal reviews, configuration updates, and wiring changesPartner with pilots and system owners (avionics, flight controls, electrical) to capture system needs in avionics and displaysEnsure that the Avionics system complies with relevant aviation standards (ARP 4754A, ARP 4761) and regulations (Part 25, Issue papers, etc.)Perform supplier oversight during procurement and development phasesOversee the system integration of the Avionics system and integration within the aircraft with the other systemsConduct rigorous testing and validation to verify system performanceWork collaboratively with cross-functional teams, providing technical leadership and guidanceWhat You Bring:Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace, systems, or a related engineering discipline5-10+ of experience in avionics development and integrationStrong understanding of systems engineering principles and the V-model lifecycleExperience with avionics integration on Part 25 aircraftExperience with supplier oversightAbility to analyze technical data, troubleshoot test failures, and drive root-cause investigations, and document results clearlyComfortable wearing multiple hats, intellectual curiosity, and good cross-functional versatilityPreferred Skills & ExperienceDirect experience with airplane development programs especially experimental designsFirsthand background in test planning and executionFamiliarity with digital thread approaches (CAD/FEA/PLM)Compensation:Our compensation package is a blend of base salary and equity options for eligible employees. The range for this role is $140,000 to $175,000.
