Auto Body Technician
Evolution Auto Care is looking for an Experienced Auto Body Technicians / Body Man (Automotive) that repairs, restores, refinishes, remove/install parts, and replaces vehicle bodies and frames. Auto body (collision repair) experience and ASE or I-CAR certification are must, welding and frame pulling experience needed. Fiberglass repair experience a plus. Auto repair schooling / courses also a plus.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
As an Auto Body Technician, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing vehicles
Complete dis-assembly of vehicle in order to assist estimators in assessing damage to prepare a 100% Repair Plan per guidelines.
Ensure all needed repairs identified to complete an accurate repair.
Plan work procedure: follow work order for all operations listed
Repairing, restoring and replacing vehicle bodies and frames, and window glass
Reviewing damage reports, preparing or reviewing repair cost estimates, and planning work to be performed
Sanding body areas to be painted and covers bumpers, windows, and trim with masking tape or paper to protect them from the paint
Fitting and welding replacement parts into place, using wrenches and welding equipment, and grinds down welds to smooth them, using power grinders and other tools
Removing damaged sections of vehicles using metal-cutting guns, air grinders and wrenches, and installing replacement parts using wrenches or welding equipment
Chaining or clamping frames and sections to alignment machines that use hydraulic pressure to align damaged components
Filling small or big dents that cannot be worked out with plastic or solder
Filing, grinding, sanding and smoothing filled or repaired surfaces, using power tools and hand tools
Removing upholstery, accessories, electrical window and seat operating equipment, and trims to gain access to vehicle bodies and fenders
Positioning dolly blocks against surfaces of dented areas and beating opposite surfaces to remove dents, using hammers
Mixing polyester resins and hardeners to be used in restoring damaged areas
Adjusting or aligning headlights, wheels, and brake systems
Removing small pits and dimples in body metal using pick hammers and punches
Fitting and securing windows, vinyl roofs, and metal trim to vehicle bodies, using caulking guns, adhesive brushes, and mallets
Removing damaged panels and identifying the family and properties of the plastic used on a vehicle
Cleaning work areas, using air hoses, to remove damaged material and discarded fiberglass strips used in repair procedures
Understanding, keeps abreast of and complies with federal, state and local regulations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know etc.
Operates all tools and equipment in a safe manner.
Reports any safety issues immediately to management.
Other tasks as assigned.
Requirements:
3+ Year of Automotive Body Technician Experience.
American and European Automotive Knowledge Strongly Preferred.
Customer satisfaction driven.
Energetic Team player.
Problem solving by analyzing and interpreting data.
Mechanical, technical, and troubleshooting.
Manual dexterity.
Master technician skills a plus.
ASE or I-CAR certification is a must.
Education and Experience:
High school diploma and three years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Valid California driver's license.
Clean driving record.
