Special Education Paraeducator - Olympus Jr High School

Special Education Paraeducator Eureka Union School District is hiring a Special Education Paraeducator under the supervision of the special and general education staff. An example of duties are: Providing necessary physical, academic and/or emotional support for students with special needs to facilitate success in the least restrictive environment Paraeducator may be assigned to support more than one student, based on student and program needs. Provides clear directions and consistent discipline according to school or classroom rules, uses positive reinforcement for appropriate behavior and assists in providing consequences and alternatives for problem behavior. Operates a variety of assistive technology and assists students in utilization of specialized equipment to support access to instruction and environment including transporting, lifting and/or positioning students in/out of adaptive equipment. Following training by, and under supervision of a credentialed school nurse, provides specialized physical health care procedures such as catheterization, blood glucose monitoring, tracheostomy, suctioning, gastrostomy tube feeding, breathing treatment via nebulizer, etc. to specific students. Current CPR/First Aid Certification Applicants must meet ONE of the following: Pass the Paraprofessional Proficiency test Possess 48 units of college coursework Possess an AA Degree or higher Licenses, Certifications and/or Testing Required and Other Requirements: Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance. Tuberculosis Clearance. First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate. Original copies of certain documents will be required to be produced at the time of hire.
