JBBS is not a grant-funded initiative; it is a legislatively mandated program with annual appropriations dedicated to its operation. The goal of JBBS is to deliver appropriate behavioral health services to incarcerated individuals and to support continuity of care upon their reentry into the community.Individuals who self-refer and meet program eligibility criteria are screened for substance use disorders, mental health symptoms, trauma history, and traumatic brain injury. Based on these assessments, individualized treatment plans are developed to address their criminogenic needs. Services may include individual therapy, psychoeducational and process groups, psychiatric evaluation and medication management, and reentry case management. Upon release, JBBS participants are referred to community-based treatment providers for ongoing care and remain eligible for JBBS reentry services for up to one year post-release.This is a full-time, benefited position that will be employed with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office, Jail Division and report to the Jail Programs Supervisor. This position will work out of the Boulder County Jail, 3200 Airport Road Boulder, CO 80301. If the hiring manager selects you to advance in the hiring process, your cover letter and resume will then be accessible to the hiring team.Examples of DutiesConduct comprehensive assessments and formulate individualized treatment plans for referred clients with a variety of co-occurring mental health and substance use concerns.Provide evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and other modalities, to address the individualized needs of clients.Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client encounters, treatment interventions, and progress notes in accordance with regulatory requirements and agency policies. Preparing and submitting monthly reports on program activity to the JBBS Program Administrator.Collaborating with the JBBS Case Manager to connect clients with community resources, supporting recovery and reentry goals. Performing related duties, as required.Required QualificationsEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Master’s degree in clinical psychology, counseling, clinical social work, or related degree (licensure preferred): MA Counseling (LPC), MA Clinical Social Work (LCSW), or master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT).Will consider Licensed Professional Counselor Candidates (LPCC) or Licensed Social Worker (LSW) pursuing licensure in Colorado.Preferred QualificationsLicensed Addiction Counselor (LAC).Bilingual in English and Spanish preferredAdditional compensation will be provided based on the use of bilingual skills and will be determined through standardized verbal and written demonstration.Knowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesMust be well organized and possess detailed assessment skills.Must have the ability to think and act critically.Must interact well with others and possess good, and effective communication skills.Must have a demonstrated understanding of the security issues surrounding mental health care in a detention setting.Ability to demonstrate a healthy working alliance with inmate clients to assist them with behavior change and risk.
