Structural Steel Fitter/Fabricator - 1st ShiftPay: $26-32/hr. (based off tack tests and experience)Shift: Monday - Friday 6a to 4:30pm; occasional OT on SaturdayDescription:We are seeking detail oriented and experienced Structural Steel Fitters/Fabricators for our growing Steel Fabrication team in Richmond, VA. The Structural Steel Fitters/Fabricators will fit and assemble structural framework, components, and materials such as angle iron, plates, WF sections, and other steel shapes and components.Requirements:Must pass all tack test FCAWSuperior level layout and math skillsComplete understanding of pre-heat functionsAbility to set-up and use track torch is requiredWorks in compliance with safety policies and proceduresMust be flexible to work any schedule needed including overtime and Saturdays as neededJob Duties:Lays out, positions, aligns, and fits together fabricated parts of structural metal products according to blueprint and layout specificationsSafely operate overhead cranesProperly fit mill to bear parts such as stiffeners, base plates, and other componentsOperate cutting and heating torchesCheck camber, sweep tolerances of beams and other steel shapesEffectively make necessary corrections per pertinent codes and specifications, with no supervisionAccurately perform complex heat corrections while adhering to procedures with no supervisionSet up complex jigs or assembliesIdentify potential hazards and make necessary correctionsInterpret complex documents including blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manualsAbility to look at weld symbols and properly prep joints per WPS standardsProduce finished product that meets recognized standards, codes, and customer expectations by maintaining quality procedures and practicesPerforms daily cleaning and maintenance of areaPerforms other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to, cleaning, trash scrap removal, and other production related jobsBenefits:Health/dental/vision/disability insurancePaid time offPaid holidays401k with employer match and 100% vesting from the beginningPaid weekly
