Project Engineer II
Brief DescriptionKitchell seeks an experienced and dedicated Project Engineer II to join our Southern California region in Pasadena and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.OverviewAssist with providing CM services over capital projects and capital improvement projects within a specific school district in the k-12 Market Sector.Duties And ResponsibilitiesProvides on-site technical and administrative support for construction activities at District facilitiesAssists Project Managers and Admin Staff with field coordination, documentation, inspections, and tracking of construction progressSupports monitoring of contractor performance, safety compliance, and quality standardsAssists with closeout documentation, punch lists, and coordination with school sites and District staff to minimize operational impacts during construction and other duties as necessaryReads and interprets construction plans and shop drawingsAssists in preparing written materials including correspondence, reports, procedures, and guidelinesReviews, estimates, negotiates, and processes construction change orders and construction field ordersReviews and enforces construction and professional services contractsManages and directs contractors and outside consultants including reviewing and approving invoicesAssesses project risks and develops risk registers including mitigation strategiesFacilitates resolutions of construction and design issuesCoordinates with Architects for timely and accurate responses to requests for information, submittals, Construction Change Documents, etc.Generates and distributes meeting minutes (construction meetings, design meetings, etc.)Confirms contractor’s maintenance of record drawings prior to monthly progress payments to the ContractorMaintain project files in both electronic and paper formatReviews submittals for conformance to plans and specificationsPrepare project status reportsOther job-related duties or projects as assignedRequirementsEducation and ExperienceHigh school diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree or coursework in Construction Technology, Facilities Management, or related field preferred 2-5 years of recent professional work experience in a similar or equivalent position involved in project or construction management is requiredAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and take initiative and make sound decisions is requiredExperience on Division of State Architect (DSA) projects is strongly preferredExperience utilizing Building Information Modeling (BIM) is preferredExperience with alternative delivery methods is preferredKnowledge And SkillsKnowledge of all parts of the project life cycle, including master planning, design, and closeout is preferredLicense and Certifications A valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, free from suspensions or restrictions is requiredOSHA 30 certified preferredICC Inspector Certifications are preferredWork EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in an office and/or construction environment. Conditions regularly include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data.
