We're looking for a true multi-platform storyteller — someone who can anchor sports segments, report live, produce enterprise content, and deliver compelling stories across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.The ideal candidate has a strong command of sports journalism, a passion for visual storytelling, and the ability to own a story from pitch through publish.ResponsibilitiesOn-Air Anchoring & PresentationAnchor sports segments across daily newscasts with authority, accuracy, and personalityDeliver highlights, breaking sports news, enterprise stories, and conversational sports contentPerform confidently on live television, including ad-libbing during breaking or developing coverageReporting & Enterprise JournalismReport live and remotely from sporting events, press conferences, and community locationsDevelop and produce original enterprise sports stories that differentiate CBS Detroit in the marketConduct compelling interviews with athletes, coaches, sports executives, and community stakeholdersDemonstrate strong editorial judgment and storytelling instincts on all assignmentsMulti-Skilled Field Production (MMJ)Independently shoot, write, edit, and produce sports content for broadcast, digital, and streaming platformsExecute high-quality visual storytelling using natural sound, strong sequencing, and creative shot selectionMeet daily deadlines while maintaining accuracy, fairness, and journalistic integrityDigital & Social ContentProduce and adapt sports coverage for station digital platforms, mobile apps, streaming, and social mediaConsistently contribute engaging content that drives audience growth and aligns with station strategyUnderstand how to tell stories differently for linear TV, streaming, and short-form digital platformsEditorial & Team CollaborationActively participate in daily editorial meetings and contribute consistent, newsworthy story pitchesCollaborate with producers, photographers, editors, and newsroom leadershipSupport major station initiatives, special coverage, and breaking news as assignedQualificationsBachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience)Proven experience as a Sports Anchor and/or Sports Reporter; top-20 market experience preferredDeep knowledge of professional, college, and high school sportsDemonstrated ability to anchor, report, shoot, write, and edit content independentlyStrong on-camera presence and communication skillsWillingness and availability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidaysWhat We OfferAttractive compensation and comprehensive benefits packages.
