Overview Ensure the day-to-day operations of grounds and custodial maintenance for State and commercial contracts in Tresco’s Eastern New Mexico Region to include coverage in Carlsbad, Artesia, Roswell, and Hobbs. This must be done in accordance with Tresco’s policies and practices, as well as the laws, regulations, and administrative rulings of governmental and other regulatory and advisory authorities and organizations (IAW contract). Responsibilities This position requires that the employee read, write, speak and comprehend the English language. Must have the ability to travel within the NM Southeast Region. Supervise, mentor, and evaluate employees using systems that promote performance, establish clear expectations, encourage staff growth and development, provide constructive feedback, recognize success, correct undesirable work performance, focus on employee success, and develop cohesive teamwork. Demonstrate proactive communication skills with customers, the Assistant Director, and the Director of Tresco Works, avoiding reactive approaches. Help control all costs associated with the contracts, ensuring that expenditures for supplies, labor, and special services stay within the funded contract amounts. Communicate with the Assistant Director of Tresco Works and Director of Tresco Works about contract concerns/issues, staffing needs and issues, quality control, and employee status, and work to develop action plans accordingly. Develop and maintain business relationships with subcontractors and coordinate subcontractor work as needed. Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA standards and federal, state, and local safety and health requirements. Responsible for scheduling and conducting weekly meetings with customers to address their needs, provide updates on services, and maintain positive relationships. Develop and maintain business relationships with community partners to assist Tresco with employee recruiting needs. Coordinate special cleaning projects as required. Coordinate and direct grounds-keeping services, including mowing (ride-on and push), edging, weed eating, and basic sprinkler maintenance and repair. Be prepared to perform employee tasks (custodial, grounds, etc.) if employees are unavailable and no coverage is available. Establish customer service standards with staff to promote quality services. Develop and adhere to service schedules with customers and staff, creating efficient schedules and staffing patterns to prevent overtime. This position requires monthly meetings with the Assistant Director or the Director of Tresco Works. The position will be responsible for meeting with employees regularly to focus on their development, provide training, and offer performance feedback. ADDITIONAL DUTIES. Other job-related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a minimum of three years’ experience in managing custodial and grounds operations, including cost tracking, expenditure records/reports, and scheduling for government contract activities and budgeting. Additionally, a minimum of three years in a responsible position, with at least three of those years in a progressive supervisory role; OR a combination of education and experience totaling three years. Licenses/Certification: Must have valid driver’s license. Other (e.g., post-offer drug screen, background check, driver’s license record, etc.). Employee’s must undergo a driver’s license record check; employees must pass a background check. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED BY THE POSITION: Knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Microsoft Word and Excel) and Tresco databases. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under stressful situations. Capable of leading and guiding meetings, trainings, and implementing team processes effectively. Ability to work in a complex, rapidly changing environment. Ability to identify and resolve programmatic and systemic issues. Ability to identify and resolve concerns and conflict successfully. Ability to maintain purposeful relationship in crisis situations and skill in conflict resolution. Knowledge, understanding, and respect for diversity (cultural, ethnicity, idea, etc.) and demonstrate ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Possess and demonstrate the ability to utilize critical thinking skills effectively. Rate of Pay: $60,000 to $70,000 per year.
