SARALAND CITY SCHOOLSJOB ADVERTISEMENTThe Saraland Board of Education is accepting applications for the following classified position.POSITION TITLE: REGISTERED NURSE (RN)QUALIFICATIONS:Current Alabama Registered Nurse LicensePreferred two (2) years' experience in hospital/medical settingOther qualifications as the Board may requireREPORTS TO: Supervisor of Health ServicesPERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Be regular and punctual in attendance and follow correct procedure for recording daily attendance and securing substitutesUnderstand and assist in upholding system rules, policies, and proceduresRespect the confidentiality of information pertaining to students and staff and the school systemAccept suggestions for correcting problems concerning performance without excessive prodding or delayMaintain dress and appearance that is ideal for conducting the businessPerform duties in a manner that will promote good public relationsParticipate in professional development with objectives specifically aimed at improving and updating school-nursing skillsObtain required contact hours in nursing continuing education to renew Alabama nursing licensureProvide the following student health assessments: vision, hearing, Scoliosis, dental, and other medical concernsPerform follow-up on health appraisal programsMobilize the health community for the welfare of the individual studentInvestigate referrals of child's health problems and make appropriate referrals for evaluation and treatmentCoordinate programs related to first aid and safety within the schoolsSupervise licensed practical nurses (LPNs) in the school settingDelegate nursing care, as appropriate and safe according to the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) and the Alabama Board of Nursing (ABN)In-service faculty and staff regarding Universal Precautions in the school setting along with other medical issuesIn-service unlicensed personnel on the administration of medications in accordance to the ABNTrain staff in CPR and first aidCoordinate all health-related programs in the school settingAct as a liaison between Saraland City School System and other medical/mental health facilitiesFollow-up on identified health problems with parents and other health professionalsMake appropriate medical referrals/mental health referrals for students and familiesRecord health data using appropriate computer student information system and formsMaintain open line of communication with principal regarding updates on medical issues within school settingConsult, inspect, and provide interpretation of health services policies to school personnel and parentsManage control of communicable diseases within the school, conduct inspections, and provide interpretation of these policies to school personnel and parentsCoordinate with the Mobile County Health Department and Supervisor of Health Services to provide immunization compliance and clinics in the school settingWork 1-to-1 with ventilator dependent student each day student is present for school or as neededPerform all procedures needed for medically fragile students as neededMaintain proper orders from physicians in compliance with ALSDE and ABNAssume other health service-related duties as assigned by Supervisor of Health Services or principalTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Nine (9) month contractEVALUATION: Performance evaluated in accordance with Board policySALARY: Board approved salary scheduleTo apply for advertised positions, complete the State of Alabama electronic application.All positions with the Saraland Board of Education require submission of a copy of current driver's license or valid picture identification, a copy of Social Security card, completion of a TB skin questionnaire, and background clearance through the State of Alabama Department of Education.
