Painter-Manufacturing
Summary / Scope of Position:
The Surface Finish / Painter oversees and executes the surfacing operations and activities while ensuring a safe, clean and orderly condition within Kenson paint booth operations.
This position is responsible for the completion of surface finishing within Kenson production as applicable or as assigned via the Kenson Plastics Inc. procedures, protocols, and / or customer requirements.
This position is charged with ensuring the correctly identified articles are surfaced with the specified coating (i.e. paint, colorant, tint, dye, stain, pigment, wash, varnish, etc) using the correct texturing and / or gloss and are surfaced according to Kenson, regulatory, and / or customer requirements.
The Surface Finish / Painter is responsible to ensure articles have been properly prepared for paint and are coated per the drawing and / or work instructions, traveler documentation, regulatory, or customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Conducts surface operations as assigned / dictated via procedural protocol or customer requirement and completes the associated paperwork as required.
2. Performs cosmetic inspection of articles utilizing the appropriate visual requirements.
3. Verifies products are surfaced via the appropriate drawings and specifications and that the correct requirements i.e. color, reagent, coating, texture, gloss, etc. or fulfilled.
4. Reads and interprets Engineering drawings to ensure verification / compliance to said drawings.
5. Records inspection results into the appropriate media (i.e. database, reports, forms, hard copy, etc.) for quality record retention as well as customer and QMS reports.
Other Responsibilities
1. Attends training and responsible for applying learning to complete job duties.
2. Receives appropriate equipment or training certifications as necessary.
3. Responsible for process improvements and quality within job description.
4. Manages data effectively with respect to revision control, as required.
Qualifications:
1. Ability to accurately utilize measuring tools and the mathematical requirements of these tools, when required.
2. Ability to read, analyze and interpret engineering drawings and / or customer specifications on technical drawings.
3. Ability to read, understand and complete QMS documentation such as procedures, manuals and forms.
4. Familiarity with manufacturing processes and associated procedures.
5. Understanding of Quality Management Systems and associated standards.
6. Incumbent must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.
7. Ability to use MRP software to access job information and to input appropriate data into said system.
Education and/or Experience
1. Extensive experience or successful completion of an apprenticeship / training as a painter is required.
2. Excellent knowledge of painting materials and their selection, mixing and application.
3. Solid knowledge of painting techniques.
4. Aptitude in using appropriate tools (brushes, caulking / paint guns etc.).
5. Good basic math skills.
6. Great attention to detail.
7. High school diploma or equivalent.
