SummaryThis position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply.DutiesThe Staff Dentist will function as a general dentist - practicing the full range of professional dental procedures in connection with the treatment of commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problemsThe Staff Dentist functions under the general direction of the Chief - Dental ServiceThe Staff Dentist independently examines - diagnoses - and treats the commonly encountered dental diseases or dental health problems - requiring opinion or intervention - in the outpatient and inpatient settings - including emergent evaluationsResponsibilities include but not limited to: Make clinical and radiographic examinations of the oral cavityDiagnose pathological or irregular oral conditionsAdminister local anesthesiaPerform routine and complex restoration of teethPerform simple and complex extractions of teethPerform alveoloplasty and other routine surgical proceduresPerform prosthetic dentistry to include immediate dentures - full dentures - partial dentures - crowns - fixed bridge work - and dental implant restorationPerform routine endodontic procedures on single and multi-canal teethPerform routine and surgical periodontal proceduresProvide direct patient care in a hospital or outpatient setting to adults with or without acute and chronic medical conditions and serve as a consultant to other healthcare providersPerform duties within CPRS - completing dental notes within the Electronic Health Care Record and assisting with processing VA Community Care referralsWork Schedule: Monday - Friday - 7:30am - 4:00pm VA offers a comprehensive total rewards packageTelework: Not Available Virtual: This is not a virtual positionRelocation/Recruitment Incentives: Not AuthorizedEDRP Authorized: Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply for incentiveContact vhaedrpprogramsupport@va.gov - the EDRP Coordinator for questions/assistanceLearn more
