Job Title: Health/Driver's Ed TeacherReports To: High School PrincipalJob Goal: To implement an effective educational program for the appointed grade level and subject area(s) using the designated course of study, appropriate materials and resources, and best instructional practices.Qualifications:Holds a valid teaching certificate in Alabama with proper endorsement in teaching fieldProficiency in oral and written communication skillsDemonstrates aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilitiesAlternatives to the above qualifications as the Board might find appropriate and acceptablePerformance Responsibilities:Demonstrates support for the school system and its vision, mission, goals, and prioritiesEffective interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on communication and collaboration with a wide variety of people and groupsDemonstrates competent knowledge of the structure of the academic discipline related to assigned subject-matter content areasDemonstrates competent knowledge of the Alabama Course Of Study locally developed curriculum guides related to the teaching assignmentAnchors content knowledge in learning experiences that are meaningful and engagingDefines clear goals and objectives for unit daily lesson plansImplements developmentally appropriate instructional strategiesCollaborates with other teachers to interpret and use student data for Instructional planning and program evaluationAdministers all school, district, and state required assessments in accordance with required proceduresFacilitates students' individual and collaborative use of technology to support learningPositively models the appropriate and responsible use of technologyUses technology to communicate, to plan and provide instruction, to facilitate student learning, to manage data, and to produce/submit required reports, correspondence, and/or financial informationExpects and responds to a broad range of student academic and behavioral needs in the classroom and provides accommodations to individual students as requiredInvolves parents and/or families as active partners in planning and supporting student learningActively participates in collaborative professional learning communities to increase student achievement and grow professional expertiseActively engages in ongoing, continuous professional learningUses and maintains confidential information in accordance with state and federal law and local Board policyPractices safe, responsible, legal, and ethical use of technologyMaintains and submits required reports, records, and correspondence in a timely and accurate mannerProperly uses and cares for equipment and material resources of the school systemSupports and complies with school system rules, administrative procedures, local Board policies, and state, federal, and local regulationsPerforms other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor(s)Terms of Employment/Salary: 9, 10, or 12 months as assigned / To be determined, commensurate with local salary matrix, credentials, and experience.Evaluation: Performance to be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Certified/Classified Personnel.* The Brewton City Board of Education is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, national origin, age, sex, handicap, marital status, or status as a disabled veteran.
