Kitchen Magician Needed, our current magician is moving out of town. The North Point is a casual, upscale eating and drinking establishment focused on inviting cocktails, local beers, affordable wines and a small selection of simple but delicious foods. We offer a warm and inviting atmosphere and some of the best service in Portland. Ours is a small kitchen in need of an experienced all-arounder. You’ll assume full responsibility for producing beautifully presented charcuterie boards, small, shareable plates and stuffed flatbread sandwiches. Your input on future menu iterations will be welcomed. Food prep, plating, inventory and ordering will all be a part of your daily routine, as will dishwashing and cleaning – you’ll wear many hats and usually work alone, so great time management skills will be needed. We’re open 5 evenings a week, from 4pm. You'll have Sundays and Mondays off. You understand the concept of expediency, you know how and when to pivot and can maintain a sense of humor and a professional demeanor. Responsibilities: - Monitor inventory and communicate any needs or shortages - Adhere to all health and safety regulations - Prepare and plate meals according to recipes or instructions provided - Ensure food is served and presented in a timely manner - Follow proper food handling and safety procedures - Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and storage areas - Collaborate with other staff to ensure smooth operation Skills: - Experience in food preparation and service - Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices - Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant kitchen environment - Time management skills to ensure timely meal preparation - Knowledge of kitchen equipment and utensils, including knife skills - Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes and procedures accurately Note: This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive.
