Work is performed in accordance with established procedures and sanitary standards, which may vary depending upon location. Also perform preventive/routine maintenance, minor repairs and grounds keeping tasks.Examples of Work PerformedEssential Duties:1. Perform routine custodial work which includes cleaning and maintaining assigned areasa. Vacuum all carpeted areasb. Sweep and mop hard surface floorsc. Clean, sanitize and re-stock restrooms on a daily basisd. Dust, high and lowe. Collect and empty all trash from assigned areas and dispose of trash in central receptacle2. Work safely and use appropriate precautionary methods involved in cleaning, maintenance andrepair activities3. Maintain custodial equipment on a daily basisSecondary Duties:1. Perform other cleaning duties unique to assigned areas such as shampooing carpeted areas, stripping, scrubbing and waxing floors, cleaning walls, woodwork, baseboards, windows, blinds and furniture2. Perform minor and routine maintenance to assigned areas, such as changing light bulbs, fuses, heating and air conditioning filters, replacing light covers and repairing blinds. Also report any maintenance problems to the supervisor in order to get repairs made immediately3. Move furniture and equipment as directed4. Operate equipment such as vacuums, buffers, extractors and scrubbers5. Perform preventative/routine maintenance and grounds keeping tasks as needed6. Perform emergency and special setup or cleanup functions7. Lock and unlock building doors, meeting rooms and classrooms8. Assist with snow removal from entrance areas and steps9.
