Java/J2EE Web Application DeveloperThis position is for a candidate with 3-15 years of experience developing applications in Java/J2EE. A successful candidate will have a strong desire and ability to learn and apply new technologies, be a good communicator, have a foundational knowledge of software development, and be able to learn the basics of TForce Freight's business.Experience in the following technologies is preferred but not required:HTML, JavaScript, CSSJava / J2EE (JBoss, Eclipse, Red Hat Linux, RPM)Oracle (SQL, PL/SQL)SQL Server (SQL, Transact-SQL)DB2Web services, RESTful servicesAPI GatewaysTeam has 11 developers ranging from Java to.NET to SQL. We build and maintain the TForce Freight websites and EDI support applications as well as a suite of web services used by UPS.com and other TForce Freight customer technology solutions to provide ground freight shipping functionality. The team will be developing a new suite of TForce Freight hosted APIs starting in 2022.Duties:Assists with I.S. ProjectsConducts systems and requirements analyses to identify project action items.Contributes to task lists and cost and time estimates to support project plan development.Performs assigned functions and tasks to meet project plan and quality review requirements.Records, updates, and monitors assignment deviations to ensure effective resolutions.Raises issues as appropriate to support effective resolutions.Monitors assignments to ensure I.S. governance, standards, and policies compliance.Assists in System Analysis and DesignAnalyzes specifications and user requirements to perform assigned applications development work.Assists with system components' designs to meet requirements.Participates in design reviews to improve quality.Participates in product evaluations to assist in determining product usefulness and fit.Participates in the creation and review of interface agreements to ensure proper transfer of information between systems.Designs and Develops Low to Moderately Complex ApplicationsAnalyzes, designs, codes, tests, and documents low to moderately complex programs to develop application software.Develops unit test plans to deliver quality components.Records and updates defects log to ensure thorough and accurate documentation.Assists in software implementations to contribute to the software build process.Performs testing and fixes of small components to ensure compliance with functional requirements.Participates in applications peer reviews to improve code quality.Generates Application DocumentationCreates technical documentation to communicate and update project teams and stakeholders.Communicates and documents unit test results and code revisions to ensure consistency and accuracy.Creates technical documentation in compliance with TForce Freight Software Development Lifecycle to ensure proper and consistent application development.Documents test plans to ensure expected outcomes.Supports Integration BuildsAssists with software builds to meet application needs.Conducts tests to diagnose and record failures and report results.Escalates integration issues to resolve system discrepancies.Assists in Maintenance and SupportExecutes procedures to monitor systems performance and integrity.Performs applications maintenance and support functions to support problem resolution.Documents maintenance and support activities to ensure quality control.Records and updates defect logs to monitor system reliability.Requirements:Bachelor's degree (CS, MIS, or other technical degree preferred)Familiar with primary information sources relevant to assigned area; utilizes computer-based analytical and information management tools in order to perform routine analysis; documents approach and findings; reviews results with others as appropriate.Demonstrates an understanding of the basic need for technical support in a business; demonstrates awareness of the primary uses of technology by business representatives, demonstrates a basic understanding of the systems of the enterprise.Demonstrates a basic understanding of the Systems Development LifeCycle (SDLC) process; asks appropriate questions to gain clear understanding of applications requirements and design implications; performs analyses, designs, codes, tests, and documents low to moderately complex applications software; seeks out the ideas and input of others to perform work assignments; applies testing techniques to minimize defects and deliver code with accuracy.Monitors actions to investigate and resolve incidents and problems in systems and services and assists with the implementation of agreed upon problem remedies and preventative measures.Demonstrates knowledge of the various types of system tools and utilities available on the market; demonstrates understanding of the role of system tools, utilities, and related processes in optimizing systems and applications development, accessibility, administration, and management.Demonstrates a general understanding of technology used by the company; communicates basic technological concepts and terminology; applies standard technology in daily work.
