The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in SQL Server administration, performance tuning, and backup/restore strategies This role blends core DBA tasks with system administration in Windows Server. You'll help ensure reliability, scalability, and security across our platforms while partnering closely with development and infrastructure teams.Daily Duties Include, But Are Not Limited ToDesigns, implements, and maintains moderately complex databases.Maintains database dictionaries and integration of systems through database design.Administer and test computer databases, applying knowledge of database management systems.Monitor performance, analyze wait stats, tune queries, and manage indexes and statisticsDesign, implement, and manage backup, recovery, and high availability/DR (e.g., AGs, log shipping)Perform system administration tasks including patching, scripting, and server configurationAutomate routine operations using PowerShell or similar scripting toolsCollaborate with teams to support application releases and schema changesEnforce database and system security with proper access controls, encryption, and auditingTroubleshoot and resolve issues across production and non-production environmentsCreate and maintain clear documentation for procedures, configurations, and best practicesThis position requires a Top-Secret clearance.This position is on-site in Washington DC with no remote option.Required QualificationsMinimum of 7 years experience with a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.Experience as a SQL Server DBA.Experience with database administration.Experience implementing data policies, procedures, standards.Experience planning and development of an organization's enterprise data model.Experience resolving data conflicts.Experience managing data repositories.Familiarity with backup tools, monitoring systems, and disaster recovery planning.A current Top Secret security clearance.Can be on-site 5 days a week.Preferred QualificationsProficiency in PowerShell or other scripting languagesFamiliar with ClaudeKnowledge of SSIS, SSRS, or SSASExperience using NiFi for ETL workflowsFamiliarity with Linux environmentsExposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelinesCloud experienceExperience migrating data between different database systems or versions, as well as integrating data from multiple sources into a unified database environment.Benefits Generous cost sharing for medical insurance for the employee and dependents 100% company paid dental insurance for employees and dependents 100% company paid long-term and short-term disability insurance 100% company paid vision insurance for employees and dependents 401k plan with generous match and 100% immediate vesting Competitive Pay Generous paid leave and holiday package Tuition and training reimbursement Life and AD&D InsuranceAbout AnaVationAnaVation is the leader in solving the most complex technical challenges for collection and processing in the U.S. Federal Intelligence Community.
