In support of their needs, we are looking for a Design & Validation Test Engineer.Job Description:Job Title: Design & Validation Test EngineerJob Type: ContractJob Location: Newark, CAWork Schedule: On-sitePay Rate: $51, Based on experienceDescription:We are looking for a Design & Validation Test Engineer to support electrical and environmental validation testing of automotive electronic control units (ECUs) and related hardware systems. This is a highly hands-on role focused on bench-level testing, data collection, debugging, and reporting in a lab environment.The ideal candidate will have foundational electrical engineering knowledge and experience working with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, power supplies, and current measurement tools. Strong Excel skills and the ability to document and communicate test results are essential.This role is ideal for early-career engineers seeking to build strong experience in hardware validation, automotive electronics testing, and lab-based engineering work.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform bench-level electrical testing and validation of ECU modules (e.g., seat controllers, door controllers, and related systems)Set up and operate laboratory test equipment including:Oscilloscope (waveform and signal analysis)Digital Multimeter (DMM)Power suppliesCurrent clamps / probesThermal chambersMeasure and analyze voltage, current, and electrical waveformsExecute structured test procedures and validation plansCollect, organize, and analyze test data using Microsoft ExcelPerform debugging and root cause analysis of electrical and functional issuesSupport validation of low-voltage systems (up to 24V)Document test results, observations, and failures for engineering reviewCollaborate with engineers to identify and resolve hardware issuesAssist in basic scripting/automation of test processes (preferred)Ensure proper test setup, equipment calibration, and lab safety complianceRequired Skills & QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or related fieldMust-Have SkillsHands-on experience with:Oscilloscope (signal measurement, waveform analysis)Digital Multimeter (voltage, resistance, continuity testing)Experience in electrical testing, debugging, or validationStrong understanding of:Basic circuit theoryOhm’s LawLow-voltage electrical systemsExperience working with ECUs, embedded systems, or electronic modulesStrong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (data reporting and analysis)Preferred SkillsAutomotive ECU testing or Tier 1/OEM experienceFamiliarity with CAN tools (CANoe, CANalyzer, etc.)Exposure to:Power suppliesCurrent measurement toolsThermal chamber testingBasic scripting knowledge (Python or similar) for test automationExperience in consumer electronics or industrial electronics testingTools & Equipment UsedOscilloscopeDigital Multimeter (DMM)Power SuppliesCurrent Clamps / ProbesECU Test BenchesThermal ChambersCAN communication tools (optional)Soft SkillsStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsClear communication of technical issues and findingsAttention to detail in testing and documentationAbility to work in a structured lab/test environmentTeam collaboration with validation and engineering groupsRole ExpectationsA successful candidate will be able to:Independently operate lab test equipmentExecute ECU validation test procedures accuratelyCapture and analyze electrical signals (waveforms, voltage, current)Identify and troubleshoot hardware-level issuesDocument results clearly using Excel and reportsContribute to improving testing efficiency and reliabilityAbout Maxonic:Since 2002 Maxonic has been at the forefront of connecting candidate strengths to client challenges.
