This full-time contract position offers a unique opportunity to serve as a Hearing Itinerant Specialist for the 2026-2027 school year, supporting students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Working within a cooperative programming model, this role covers a diverse caseload spanning Early Childhood through 8th grade across multiple districts.Primary responsibilities include providing specialized educational support and services tailored to students with hearing impairments. You will collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to develop and implement individualized strategies that promote academic success and inclusion. The position demands flexibility and the ability to travel between schools within the designated area.Key qualifications:Certification or licensure as a Teacher of the Deaf / Hard of HearingExperience delivering itinerant services to students with hearing loss in an educational settingKnowledge of assistive listening technology and communication methods suited for Deaf and Hard of Hearing studentsStrong collaboration and communication skills for working with educators, families, and specialistsAbility to manage a cooperative caseload effectively across multiple sitesLocation Details: The role is based in Joliet, IL, with service provided across various districts in the region.Work Schedule: This position is full-time, 1.0 FTE, requiring 35 hours per week from early childhood through 8th grade students.This contract opportunity invites an experienced hearing itinerant educator to positively impact the educational experiences of students with hearing challenges.
