Senior Accountant

Accountant IIIWe are seeking a hands-on Accountant III to support the Fuels Distribution business during a critical system transition and integration phase. This role is execution-focused and ideal for an experienced accountant who excels in general ledger and inventory accounting, system integrations, and complex reconciliations in an operational environment.Hours / Location / Pay / Position TypeHours: Full-time, with flexibility during month-end close and system cutoversLocation: Anchorage, Alaska (Hybrid)Pay Rate: $53-75/hourPosition Type: 12-month contractWork AuthorizationMust be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.What You'll DoLead and execute the monthly close in alignment with the fuels business closing calendar.Prepare and post recurring and ad hoc journal entries, including inventory accruals, intercompany transactions, deferred drydock, leases, and prepaid amortizations.Perform general ledger reconciliations for inventory, clearing, accruals, prepaids, and bank accounts.Validate Ascend and Vertrax data feeds into Oracle, ensuring accurate mapping and resolving suspense postings.Partner with operations and IT to support the transition from Ascend to Vertrax, including testing, reconciliation, and process documentation.Verify terminal and vessel fuel inventory quantities, valuations, and cost allocations.Manage PO accruals and reversals to ensure proper cut-off and cost recognition.Prepare and review intercompany transactions, ensuring accuracy and balance across entities.Support fuel excise tax filings (Form 730), ensuring compliant and accurate data aggregation.Produce monthly terminal and cost center reports and distribute to finance and operations stakeholders.Identify and implement process improvements related to close activities, data mapping, and cross-system reporting workflows.What We're Looking ForBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.5–7 years of progressive accounting experience.Strong general ledger, inventory accounting, and reconciliation experience.Direct experience supporting ERP or operational system integrations.Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and fuel excise tax reporting (Form 730).Proven ability to analyze complex data flows, resolve mapping issues, and ensure data integrity.Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines.Effective communicator with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with finance, operations, and IT teams.Nice to HavePrior experience in fuel distribution, logistics, or marine operations.Hands-on experience with Ascend, Vertrax, and/or Oracle ERP environments.Who Should Apply?This role is well-suited for an intermediate to senior-level accountant who is comfortable operating in a hands-on capacity within a changing systems environment.
