Position Summary JOB DESCRIPTION The Lactation Consultant is responsible for the overall management of the Lactation and PatientEducation Program. The consultant coordinates breast pump rentals, facilitation of all childbirtheducation and lactation related classes, inpatient and outpatient consults, human donor milk program,and provides current oversite of education to antepartum and post-partum mothers, staff, physicians,and the community. The consultant provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with otherteam members, the physician, and the patient/family to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Ensuresbreast-feeding support coverage for unit. The incumbent has access to confidential patient informationand makes decisions independently and in collaboration with the Clinical Manager/Physician. Thisindividual works under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager.Minimum QualificationsRequired Educational Degree: Graduate of an Accredited ProgramMajor/Area of Concentration: NursingPreferred Education: Bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field preferredRequired Certifications, Credentials and Licenses: LPN - Licensed Practical Nurse or RN - RegisteredNurse; Certification by the International Board of Certified Lactation Consultant Examiner must becompleted within one year from hire date; Certification in Child Birth Education within 6 months of hire;Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification; Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) requiredwithin 6 months of hireRequired Experience: 3-5 years recent and relevant obstetrical clinical experience
