Electrical Engineer
Job Description
The Electrical Engineer will support the electrical installations and systems associated with tunnel, cavern, and surface works. This role is responsible for assisting with the design, coordination, installation, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of electrical systems necessary to support TBM operations and overall underground construction activities. The ideal candidate will have experience in construction-related electrical systems and the ability to work closely with field operations, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.Reports to: General SuperintendentThe Electrical Engineer's key responsibilities are:Support the installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical systems for tunnel, cavern, and surface worksAssist with electrical systems supporting TBM operations, including temporary and permanent power distribution and associated equipmentCoordinate electrical installations with civil, mechanical, and field construction teams to ensure proper integration with ongoing project activitiesReview electrical drawings, specifications, submittals, and other technical documents for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with project requirementsProvide technical support to field operations during excavation, ring building, cutterhead inspections, and related tunnel activitiesMonitor electrical work in the field to ensure compliance with project specifications, applicable codes, and safety requirementsTroubleshoot electrical issues and support timely resolution to minimize disruption to construction progressAssist with site inspections, system checks, and electrical quality control activitiesSupport installation and operation of temporary and permanent electrical infrastructure, including lighting, communications, controls, and related systemsHelp maintain documentation related to electrical testing, inspections, field changes, and installation progressCoordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to support execution of electrical workParticipate in project safety planning and promote compliance with all company and site-specific safety proceduresEDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering requiredMinimum 4 years of experience in electrical engineering, preferably in heavy civil, underground, tunnel, or large infrastructure constructionExperience supporting electrical installations in active construction environmentsKnowledge of electrical distribution systems, temporary power, lighting, communications, and control systemsAbility to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, plans, and specificationsFamiliarity with applicable electrical codes, standards, and construction safety requirementsStrong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively with field personnel, subcontractors, and engineering teams in a fast-paced project environmentFamiliarity with tunnel systems such as ventilation, fire alarm, Bluetooth and wifi communications or related support systems preferredPrior experience on transit, infrastructure, or other heavy civil construction projects preferredWORK ENVIRONMENTAbility to work in both office and field environments, including active construction sitesAbility to walk uneven terrain, climb stairs and ladders, and access work areas in tunnels, shafts, and surface construction zonesAbility to wear required personal protective equipment at all times when in the fieldFCC is dedicated to creating an inclusive workplace where diversity is valued and respected.
