The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of DOXA.Description:About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Marine Underwriter / Director to drive profitable growth across our marine portfolio. This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for underwriting strategy, distribution expansion, and portfolio performance across key marine lines.You will operate with broad underwriting authority, lead critical broker relationships, influence product innovation, and play a pivotal role in scaling a specialized marine business within a growth-focused organization.Key ResponsibilitiesUnderwriting & Portfolio Leadership Own and manage a profitable book of marine business (new and renewal) Exercise advanced underwriting authority and pricing strategy within carrier guidelines Analyze portfolio performance, loss trends, and market dynamics to optimize results Structure and negotiate complex risks with brokers and partnersDistribution Strategy & Relationship Management Develop and execute a strategic broker/agency growth plan Cultivate and expand relationships with key producers and distribution partners Identify, recruit, and onboard new high-value trading partnersProduct Development & Market Expansion Lead or contribute to new product/program development Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and emerging risks Recommend and implement strategic adjustments to drive growthLeadership & Mentorship Mentor and develop junior underwriting talent Serve as a subject matter expert on complex marine risks Promote underwriting excellence and best practices across the teamOperational Excellence Oversee account servicing, endorsements, and policy lifecycle management Review inspections and ensure appropriate underwriting actions are takenRequirementsBachelor’s degree or relevant insurance designation (CPCU, ARM, etc. preferred)5+ years of commercial marine underwriting experience (or closely related field)Strong technical expertise across:Marine General LiabilityHull & P&IExcess/UmbrellaMarine Property / Inland MarineProven success building broker relationships and driving productionDeep understanding of regional and/or national marine insurance marketsStrong analytical, negotiation, and decision-making capabilitiesExcellent communication and executive-level relationship skillsSelf-starter with a growth-oriented, entrepreneurial mindsetWhy Join UsMarine Underwriters of America, part of DOXA Insurance Holdings, offers the opportunity to join a dynamic and entrepreneurial specialty platform backed by experienced industry leaders.What We Offer Flexible remote/hybrid work environment Competitive compensation (based on experience) Comprehensive benefits package:Medical, dental, visionLife & long-term disability insurance401(k) with company matchGenerous PTO and sick time Career advancement within a growing specialty insurance platformSalary Description$150,000-$200,000 + Discretionary Bonus
