Head of DevOps
Head of DevOpsHarrison Clarke is partnering with a venture-backed AI company in San Francisco building one of the most technically demanding platforms in the market—where infrastructure performance directly defines product capability. This is not a company layering AI onto existing software. They are building systems where latency, throughput, and compute efficiency materially impact model quality, customer outcomes, and unit economics. As a result, their infrastructure has become a core part of their defensibility—not just an enabler. They are now hiring a Head of DevOps to scale that advantage. The OpportunityThis role sits at the intersection of infrastructure, product, and AI. You will be responsible for building and leading a DevOps and platform engineering function that directly impacts product performance and customer outcomes. You will define the strategy and execution across cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and high-performance compute, ensuring the platform continues to scale efficiently and reliably under increasing demand.ResponsibilitiesOwn and evolve the company’s DevOps, SRE, and platform engineering strategyArchitect and scale highly available, performant, and cost-efficient infrastructure for AI workloadsLead, hire, and develop a high-performing DevOps and platform teamDrive best practices across CI/CD, observability, reliability, and securityManage and optimise multi-cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure)Implement and standardise infrastructure-as-code and automation (e.g. Terraform, Kubernetes)Partner closely with ML and engineering teams to optimise model training, deployment, and inference pipelinesEnable rapid experimentation and deployment while maintaining system stability and uptimeRequirementsProven experience leading DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering teams in high-growth technology companiesDeep expertise in cloud-native architecture and distributed systemsStrong experience with Kubernetes, containerization, and infrastructure-as-codeBackground supporting data-intensive or AI/ML-driven platforms is strongly preferredTrack record of scaling systems and teams through periods of rapid growthAbility to operate both strategically and hands-onWhy This RoleInfrastructure is a core driver of product differentiation and company valueBacked by a leading Silicon Valley VC with significant runwayOpportunity to shape the technical foundation of a rapidly scaling AI businessHigh-impact leadership role with direct influence on engineering and product outcomes
