SQL Database Administrator – SeniorPosition / LCAT: SQL Database Administrator Level: Senior Lead Designation: N/A Location: Fort Belvoir, VARole SummaryProvides database administration and management support for Relational Database Management Systems (RDMS) in a Microsoft SQL Server-based environment hosting databases across supported networks for various .NET applications. Maintains quality of service, availability, security, and performance of databases through daily system checks, STIG compliance, backup and recovery management, and capacity planning, while supporting application developers and end users.ResponsibilitiesProvide database administration and management support for RDMS in a Microsoft SQL Server-based environment across supported networksMaintain quality of service and availability of RDMS by enforcing organizational standards through daily system checks; record 100% of findings and statuses to the IT PortalEnsure all SQL servers and instances have the latest DISA STIGs applied within 30 calendar days of release; notify Government of critical findings that cannot be remediated within 3 daysManipulate database objects and develop stored procedures, stored functions, and packages based on customer requirementsMaintain healthy and reliable data replication using technologies such as availability groupsMonitor performance and manage parameters to provide fast query responses; optimize code and stored procedures while assisting developersImplement security requirements for least privileged access and monitor user access and securityDevelop and maintain database documentation including SOPs, TTPs, logical architecture diagrams, entity relationship diagrams, and server listsDevelop, manage, and test backup and recovery plans, including monthly integrity testing of no less than 10% of database backupsConduct capacity planning and assist with storage and architecture designComplete CRITICAL daily checks by 0700 daily and all other priority checks by 1000 dailyNotify the Government of any unscheduled system outages within 30 minutes of occurrenceProvide after-hours on-site support with 2-hour response time to system/application malfunctionsMonitor and assume responsibility of trouble tickets to maintain 99% system availability rateRequired QualificationsEight years of experience in SQL database administration supporting and managing databases in a production environmentFive years of experience installing, configuring, and supporting Microsoft SQL Server in High Availability Group configurationsFive years of experience with T-SQL and ability to write scripts, stored procedures, triggers, and views to automate maintenance functionsThree years of experience serving as a team leader working both as part of a team and independently to assign/review immediate tasks, set priorities, maintain task progress, and validate team members' workThree years of experience mentoring junior personnel on proper practices and proceduresThree years of experience planning and implementing security measures to safeguard information against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification, or disclosure in accordance with industry best practices and DISA STIGsMicrosoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) or SQL Server 2016 or SQL Database Administration CertificationDoD 8140.03 IAT Level II / Intermediate certificationTS/SCI clearance with SBI and ability to attain SI, TK, G, HCS, and NATO Secret clearancePreferred QualificationsExperience with the DCD IT Portal and Government-managed STIG management portalsExperience supporting .NET applications in a production environmentNorth Point Technology is THE BEST place to work for curious-minded engineers motivated to support our country’s most crucial missions!
