Summary/Objective: Reporting to the Shop Superintendent and/or their designee the Shop Operations positions will perform the tasks/duties as listed below. Essential Duties (other duties may be assigned): Fitter/Fabricator Assembles and fits to drawing dimensions all kinds of structural, plate, and mechanical materials into various types of assemblies. Must be proficient in the full skills of the trade. Receives instructions, prints, sketches, and work orders. Reads and interprets blueprints and plans the fitting operation.  Layout, fit and fabricate metal components to assemble structural forms, such as frames, bridge parts, beams and columns.  Read and understand fabrication drawings.  Use dimensions and fitter skills to layout and fit detail parts accordingly.  Verify accuracy of fit up prior to sending to inspection. Education/Experience:  Previous extensive experience is required for all aforementioned positions that will be acting in the capacity of leading a team of production employees.  High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and/or 12 months of training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Able to read shop drawings.  Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.  Experience in overhead crane operation helpful. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Continual improvement – Must continually be growing one’s craft learning new tools and techniques to manage one’s self.
