About The Role
Peraton is seeking a highly qualified candidate for software development support for Geospatial data and GIS applications, including both web-based and desktop-based GIS solutions, for a hybrid support developer position in the Stennis Space Center, MS metro area. The person that fills this role will design, develop, and maintain software applications that work with spatial data and GIS technologies.
Responsibilities
Design and developing GIS applications, including web-based and desktop-based solutions, using programming languages like Java, Python, JavaScript, or C#.
Managing and maintaining GIS data, including spatial databases, data layers, and data formats like NetCDFs, GRIBs, GeoJSON, Shapefiles, and GeoTIFFs.
Supporting and maintaining existing GIS applications and tools.
Identifying and resolving issues with GIS applications and systems.
Integrating GIS technologies into existing systems and applications.
The successful candidate will have
Knowledge of computer science concepts and principles of standard computer science practices, methods, and techniques to perform, following specific instructions, routine projects or minor phases of a larger or more complex project.
Knowledge of computer design, simulation or programming software or other appropriate software to perform routine design and analysis assignments.
Knowledge of computer science and related disciplines to design, develop and adapt scientific methods and techniques to recommend solutions for computer problems.
Ability to analyze, interpret and apply computer science procedures in a variety of situations and recommend effective solutions.
Qualifications
0 years with BS/BA in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or other science; 4 years no degree
Programming: proficient with C++, Python, Java, and MATLAB
Database: familiar with SQL or similar
Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance
Must live in the local commuting area and will regularly work in the Navy Research Laboratory and Peraton facilities at Stennis Space Center, MS.
Details
Target Salary Range: $66,000 - $106,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual's experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
