Position Summary The Assistant Controller supports daily accounting operations, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintains compliance with GAAP and cost accounting standards. This role is responsible for month-end close, journal entries, account reconciliations, cost accounting, financial analysis, and continuous improvement of accounting processes and ERP functionality. Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations & ControlsEstablish, maintain, and enforce accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.Classify, summarize, and record financial transactions in accordance with GAAP.Provide support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable activities. Month-End Close & ReportingManage the monthly close process, including preparation and review of journal entries.Prepare account reconciliations and investigate variances.Record monthly and year-end accruals.Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements and variance reports. Cost Accounting & Manufacturing SupportPerform cost analysis in a standard cost environment, including variance analysis and job costing.Prepare miscellaneous costing reports and monitor production/expense transactions for accuracy.Review system-generated reports to ensure completeness of manufacturing cost data.Execute routine ERP functions such as job closures and journal postings. Compliance, Tax, and AuditPrepare quarterly and annual tax filings.Develop year-end audit schedules and support external auditors.Assist with annual physical inventory counts and reconciliation. Budgeting & ForecastingSupport preparation of the annual budget and related financial planning activities. Systems & Process ImprovementContribute to ERP system enhancements and functionality improvements.Identify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and strengthen reporting efficiency. Other DutiesPerform additional tasks and projects as assigned. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.Experience in a manufacturing environment with exposure to standard costing or job costing.Strong knowledge of GAAP, cost accounting principles, and cost control systems.Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.2+ years of experience in standard costing, job costing, or manufacturing cost accounting.Experience with cost variance analysis and cost control systems.5+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience within a major company or division.
