Permanent Building Substitute Teacher (2026-27 SY)

Position Overview The Weston Public Schools are seeking to hire a Permanent Building Substitute Teacher to support Field School (grades 4-5) This is a full-time, 7.5 hours per day (7 hours + a 30 minute unpaid lunch break), reporting to the Building Principal. About the Weston Public Schools The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 160 students (K-12). Key ResponsibilitiesEmbrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusionProvide daily coverage for teachers throughout the school and/or supervise study hallProvide coverage in other Weston Elementary Schools as neededSupport school-wide dutiesProvide individual and small group instruction, both in-person and remotelyAssist teachers in developing and implementing strategies to reinforce skills and contentCollaborate with teachers and related service providersPerform other duties as assigned by the Principal Desired QualificationsBachelor's degreeMassachusetts' Teaching license - strongly preferredTeaching experience preferred, ideally in a diverse public school settingCompetent with technology, including Microsoft Office, and Google SuiteStrong work ethic and an eagerness to improveA commitment to doing whatever it takes to support students learning and development Compensation and Benefits The Permanent Building Substitute will earn $33.52 per hour for the 2026-27 school year. This role qualifies for full benefits, including subsidized health insurance and participation in the Middlesex County Retirement System.
