Sr. Program Manager

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for maintaining existing customer relationships and will be a catalyst for building new customer relationships. Responsible for all phases of program activity including coordination with cross functional teams, and IPTs, monitoring program cost, schedule and performance, prioritizing work, and interfacing with major Defense Contractors and US Government Agencies. The Sr. Program Manager is ultimately responsible for the cost, schedule, and technical performance of his/her assigned programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for cost, schedule and technical performance of assigned programs/projects. Direct specific phases of programs/projects from program award through completion. Plans, directs and monitors program budgets. May be assign new product developments requiring ability to lead a multi-discipline team.
Plans, directs and monitors program budget, schedules and serves as the focal point of contact for customer interface regarding program information. Has responsibility for profit/loss of assigned program(s).
Foster strong and extensive working relationships externally and internally.
Interacts with subcontractors and suppliers regarding program execution issues.
Has thorough understanding of systems engineering concepts, manufacturing processes, decision point’s processes and hardware/software engineering processes.
Responsible for risk management of the assigned program. This includes risk identification and implementation of plans to risk retirement.
Provides leadership for an assigned program team. Must be a proactive planner and be able to coordinate efforts across all functional departments necessary to support program execution.
Has responsibility for program growth and provides pursuit order capture support and program execution expertise to Business Development and Marketing department. Provide support to the Business Development department in ensuring pursuit activities are consistent with the overall company business strategy.
Understand Space/Military defense contractors/customers such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, GDLS, BAE Systems and encoder/sensor technology
Works with some supervision. Supports program status reviews to executive management team as required.
Must possess excellent written, verbal and presentation skills
This position requires demonstrated leadership skills with a proven track-record of meeting assigned objectives and satisfying customer requirements.
Experience at generating complex/compliant proposals or a willingness to learn proposal generation.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Travel as required to support external customers, up to 25%.
Ability to create and manage through Microsoft Projects.
Ability to create and present professional grade presentations.
Requirements:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline. Preferred in Electrical, Mechanical or Opto-Mechanical Engineering, MBA is desirable.
Experience:
10+ years’ experience as a Program/Project Manager with responsibility of project; performance objects, schedule to program requirements, budget conformance to program budget.
10+ years of Program Management in Aerospace or Defense programs and government contract regulations (FAR’s).
Other:
Solid common sense and judgement in evaluating all technical and non-technical facets and positions and be able to select methods, techniques and path forward for obtaining positive results.
Articulate complex technical messages simply and be able to present to engineering audience as well as to high level management.
Be able to prepare professional PowerPoint presentation packages.
Able to deal with complex/ambiguous program requirements and able to handle stressful situations.
Builds strong long-term working relationships with major defense contractors.
Experience with execution of small to large new product/program developments.
Prior experience in Program Management with proven track record of executing complex programs. Earn-value management, risk management expertise.
Contract negotiation experience is desired, familiarity with or working knowledge of ITAR/EAR, FAR/DFAR is also desired.
